I am running a meth/water injection and I have an oil cooler as far as cooling mods. Im looking into getting a karumaZ bumper, do you think it is necessary to run 100+ octane if im already running ~40% meth mix?

Thanks for the great replies. I was thinking of riggin up some diffusers, and I also was thinking about taking the bumper off for track days, but I think a new bumper would be the best option for me

Going with a higher octane fuel is always going to be safer...

+1....that's what I did on my Top Secret, and had GTM reroute the intake downward onto the other opening.....to create real cold air intake.

well, its about a 25% meth mix, and contrary to popular belief, water is a better knock suppresent than meth. Meth adds a small amount of power, and it doesnt allow my tank to freeze, so its my liquid of choice.

+ my 30% intercooler flow isnt helping much at all.

You shouldn't need to run race fuel if you have your W/M injection set up appropriately. Many people can successfully remove the intercooler altogether with W/M injection. What type of injection controller are you using? My guess is improving the trigger/time/amount of W/M injection to reduce IATs and EGTs may be most helpful...

I'm using the ais trunkmount stage 1. No idea what the injector size is to be honest, its set on a boost trigger of 5 psi.

The AIS stage 1 is just an on/off trigger, not progressive controller, right?

You're right, you DON'T have to use higher octane, but it's good/cheap insurance.

+1 It's not NEEDED, but cheap insurance. I don't know about you guys but I can get 110 Pump out here at a few select locations (It might be 104).

Yeah, most race shops and most small airports have pumps you can drive up to and pay right at the pump. That's what I used to do with my G before race days. I'd have 1/4 tank 93 and 1/4 104. She never detonated and always ran cool...even in SoCal at the Willow tracks in the dead of summer (107 ambient, 120 on the track.)

I have a "On the Go", it's a regular gas station that has it on pump like 5 minutes from my house

I wish I had 100 at the pump near the house. My buddy in Charlotte has a station with it like 2 mins away. Would be nice for my high compression 2 stroke.

I have the same set up. It's my daily driver and have had no problems at all. Have had this set up for a year, but will be investing in a bumper soon

I ran with the stock bumper for a little while after I installed the APS TT and never really had a problem. But then I got the Kuruma and this is how it looks like now:

I just installed an oil cooler and the fit is excellent.

Good luck.
