!!Alberto's Kryptonite (pics and video inside) -- Sequential Shifter!!
Just got done driving Joe's Z......and.....WOW!
The shifter goes thru the gears sooooo smooth, and the time it normally take to shift manually, is just cut in half. For you Boosted Z, the Shifter will help you Hold Boost Pressure in between shifts, to keep you up in the Power Band with out loss of boost pressure. This shifter would be perfect for You guys, who love to Drag, Track or just Street Race on the Weekends.

If this shifter helps you shift twice as fast and stay in boost you werent shifting well to begin with. For those people-this will do the trick. Not hating-plain and simple truth. This setup is worth the fact that you will never miss a gear alone! I would love to test drive one. Our 4-5 shifts are tricky-especially at high revs, I dream of hitting that gear as fast as others, this will do it no problem.

Just stop by the house on your way back from picking up your car, I should have mine in by then.

Yep your still limited to how fast you can engage the clutch. Just imagine your car with a shift pattern back and forward everything else stays the same.
Can you miss a gear with this...Yes (you got to be and idiot to do so)

I'm just wondering if you did, would it sit there and grind until it forced it into gear or you hit the clutch, or would it eventually stop trying to force and throw it into neutral.
If someone just jumped into the car and tried to drive it without knowing how to operate it they could cause some serious damage if it just forces it into gear despite the clutch...
Craig it would be the same as if somebody got in your car and tried to shift with no clutch. Chances are the grind will force them out and back to neutral but if done hard enough it will go in...

It will actually try to go into gear and then get stuck between the cam position in the shifter mechanism... Since it has no way of going back to neutral it kind of goes in between. Then when you push in the clutch you can complete the shift and engage the gear. Interestingly the gear indicator in the dash will be blank if you do this until you fully engage the next gear. Nice side effect since you know right away that you missed.
I know all of this since I have been trying to perfect my clutch action with this thing and I have messed up the timing a few times. The trick to going fast is just taping the clutch peddle to the point it releases and let go, if you go past that you will already have shifted the transmission with the shifter and your foot will be lagging behind. Your foot is the slowest part of the equation. Your hand action is twice as fast so you need to get your foot to do the same... It may come down to adjusting the engagement point on the clutch pedal to get it just right for maximum speed.

Great discovery. Nice work Joe & Luie. I would love to hear some more hands on feedback. Please keep us posted. Do either of you plan to close up and cover up the mechanism with the provided shifter boot? Curious what it looks like.
