Default Pistons/Rods combo. Should i get it?

Alright so while my motors apart. im gonna put in new pistons/rods/studs.

i was wondering if i should buy this combo

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CP-Pi...QQcmdZViewItem

seems not bad. How strong is this setup. Can i push 600whp out of it or should i upgrade the rods to pauter.

also, i will probably go with 8.5:1 CR and 96mm bore.

pm sharif@forged....he can do better for ya....
i went with pauter rods but people have pushed the eagles to 600rwhp....for pistons i suggest the arias extreme hd...they r the best hands down...
the l19 r just stronger....good to be safe imo...if u got the money get the upgrades....good luck!

CP pistons have always been a top of the line brand. Most people go with 8.5:1 with a .020 overbore.

The Eagle Rods should be good for over 1000whp. They are rated at 250hp per rod and I have never ever seen a failure. They are also lighter than Pauter rods.

L19 head studs are made with a material that allows them to be torqued down to higher specs, and don't require the holes on the block to be machined out. I'd definitely go with them and an HKS head gasket.

Also another thought if your block is apart instead of buying everything seperate why not ship it out to one place like GTM and let them do everything at once

Not true. The majority of the FI builds use L19 or the standard studs. Theres no need in going 1/2 inch, unless your planning on going over 800hp+imo.

for now...

jk

but ya guys. i think im gonna go with the cp pistons/eagle rod combo. Im also gonna purchase the l19 studs. HOWEVER, this is my plan ONLY if everythin else is good. If i need headwork and only one piston ring, then that comes first. im just hoping everything else is good so i can just build the block.

Why overbore the block? I wouldn't do any machine work if were talking about a motor that did not have a failure. I would just deck the heads, and go with new bearings. As far as the CP pistons and eagle rods thats a great combo. I have the Eagle rods as well and 565whp. You'd be better off buying from one of thevendors here on the board. The Performance Factory is big on CP pistons. Give them a ring.
