Turbonetics-engine light
i just spoke with Turbonetics, and they said it is normal for the slight misfire and the check engine light to b on and that's how all their cars are!?!? Plus the slight sputter sound when its sitting in nuetral is normal? Anyone else experience this? The car runs great, just dont like the "service engine soon" light glarrin in my face.

as talked about in a previous post, taurren asked if multiple or single, and it's been a lil bit since I've seen the code, but I thought it just said "single or multiple misfire."

My car has the same issues. I have just got used to the check engine light. The slight sputter that I have at idle does bother me some what. I have spoke to the local dealership here about raising my idle about 200 rpm. They said they could do it for like 25 bucks. If that work I will let you know.

nice southern, thanks for the info, thats extremely helpful, although it kinda sux having it, its well worth the benefit! good to know that others really do have the same issue and it wasnt turbonetics just not wanting to deal w another problem. That makes me feel a lot betr.

Random Multiple cylinder misfire CEL seems normal on all FI setups on this motor.
The sputtering sound may be a boost or exhaust leak.
The turbonetics reflash raises idle to 1000rpms so if you're not running the reflash it may need to be bumped.
It doesn't sound like a problem to me, just a few issues you need to work out with your setup.

Is that "sputter" kinda random? Like 10 seconds on and 30 seconds off?
Although I thought the reflash was awesome, a utec and reflash fixed that problem for me. For the H.P gains you gotta admit these thing were worth it and there are ways to fix them!

I just posted a thread on this issue last week. I was getting a SES light about a week after installing my TN kit. The codes I were getting were "1273" and "P300" I think. (Random misfire and Lean bank one I think). I tried swip swapping the location of the O2 sensors, and it worked for about 140 miles, but then the SES light came back... My car also sputters occasionally. As long as it doesn't stall out on me, then I'm fine with it...

Keep in mind some Z's are more subject to the random multiple misfire codes. My 03 ( production date 9/02 ) get's it more than my coworker who has the same car and kit. I have a code reader that I used to erase the code but it keeps coming back however it does not effect the performance or anything related to the TN kit.

The plugs that I have are two step colder iridum I think. It is the ones that JT installed at PF when he installed the kit. So you think that the gap may need to be adjusted?

well that p0300 could def be caused by too cold a plug (why would u go with 2 steps colder?) or by too big a gap.
my motor used to miss a ton, reduced the gap, no more miss. Running too rich can cause you to miss as well.
good luck on the other codes. they def seem turbonetics specific.

if you search, the only ppl complaining of these P1284 and P1273 codes own turbonetics......

I've seen those same codes come up on other FI cars myself and having that code reader on me all the time everyone asks me for help. To say ONLY TN gets them is false.

Agreed. I believe QuadG35 had the same issues even when switching to a Greddy. Tons of F/I VQ35 cars get these codes. Only way I have seen them gone is with a standalone and GTM ECU flash..

old thread i know, but i am about to be boosted i have turbonetics kit, but not sure if it will be going on or another, and i have been reading all about check engine lights and others coming on. . I can't have this, why are the lights actually on, it seems like if you bought a kit from turbonetics say and had their reflash it would not be on if it was all right, same for any other company. . How do i get around ever having any codes show up because i won't be able to get inspected when the time comes with lights on.
