Default BOV was stuck shut :(

Just wondering if anybody ever had there BOV get stuck shut???

Notice yesterday on my way home from the Performance Nissan, HKS meet, that my BOV wasn't opening.

Today ended up having to remove the whole thing (spring, washers, etc) and the tube assembly still wouldn't move. Ended up having to tap it out with a mallet.

Everything is fine now, but is there anything I can do to keep this from happening in the future besides cleaning it out like I did today?

Thanks Guys

He's running a TurboXS RFL BoV.

I'm not sure what the answer would be, though. I'd probably just make sure it was moving, reassemble it, and give it a few sprays of wd-40.

what if you apply some white lithium grease to the moving parts.

that's weird... I hope this doesnt happen to my rfl bov... I would think just greasing it up with WD40 would help...

By the way, where did you get the adapter to hook up your rfl bov to the tn flange?? I can't seem to find it anyhere...

Wd-40 huh? I took it apart and cleaned everything, there was a lot of crap in there. Hopefully it was just because of the build-up on the inside, but I will go ahead and spray the internals either way.

Thanks

That was just a guess, really. I'm by no means an expert in stuck BoV's. Good luck!

just cleaning it will work. No WD40 required... this happened to my Greddy Type S BOV as well. I had a bunch of crap built up in there. now i clean it out every couple of months and its never happened again.

Do you (or anyone else) have videos or sound clips of the Greddy Type S BOV? I'm curious to hear what it sounds like on a Z.

^^^ That was the problem, I noticed I was getting no sound what so ever coming from the BOV so I knew there was a issue. At first I thought maybe a vaccum line had come loose but after I removed the BOV I found that the assembly was stuck shut.

Yeh ive had this happen before. dont use WD40, use silicon or lithium greese. BOV maintenance is common.

Yeah, after I typed WD-40 I realized it might be better to use some sort of grease. I've never had any sticking issues with any of my own valves.

I would have a video for you, but I'm unable to install this BOV since turbo XS has the greddy adater in backorder, and I'm trying to get my shop to fabricate an adapter for me patience is a virtue

Good, I happen to have a tube of lithium grease layering around.

Thanks
