Exclamation Snow performance vs Coolingmist Vari-cool

I did alot of research about the different W/M kits and settled to 2 kits to choose from;

- Snow performance stage 2
- Coolingmist Vari-cool trunk mount

there is a $150 difference in price between the 2 kits, thats not a problem. honestly I like the simplicity of the snow kit. at the same time i like the progressive controller that comes with the coolingmist vari-cool. what do you guys think of both kits?

I am running a snow performance stage 2 kit and love it, great price and very simple straigh forwards install. All I have to do is engage the switch thats it, everything else is controlled by the haltech and snow performance controller.

George@GTM: that looks like a pretty good kit, but honestly quit expensive and I'm sure I wont use half of the kits features.

D350Z10: good to know your using the snow performance stage 2 since i'm looking for feedback from ppl who use it. can you tell me whats the job of the snow performance controller (I know its a variable controller but what does it do excatly)? where did you place the reservoir?

^ The reservoir is placed in my trunk mounted on my crossbar, I didn't want that but thats where Forged Performance put it. I would personally put it in the spare trunk area underneath the carpet, thats is also where my pump is located. The controller sprays the methanol at a givin rpm I believe, Ill look into it more and get a detailed answer.

I am going to install, someday, the Snow performance MAF kit which can be triggered by the Fcon rather then the boost controlled kit.

the snow performance kit is great...i use it but its triggered by boost...once i get 5+psi it kicks in when armed...too little of a psi and it will "bog" the motor down....+1 for snow performance....

Why are you comparing the two? You can't compare both coz the other one is a Trunk Mount. The Standard Varicool kit (Stage2) is only $499 and I think Snow Stage 2 is around $440. That is only $60 difference.

so the snow kit is triggered by boost. how about RPM? and does the controller of the snow kit have a min and max pressure flows?

I just check Coolingmist site and it sayd $599 for the varicool trunk mount kit

http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmai...=varicooltrunk

what would be the disadvantages of using a trunk mount w/m kit?

You set a start point based on boost (about a 1/3 of your total boost ex. 9lbs max boost, start point = 3lbs of boost) and then the max boost you will hit. When it hits your start point boost it will have a linear progression from 0% to 100% @ max boost.

Couple questions on operation with the UTEC.
1. Will tuning be required that covers the full range of spray (0-100%)?
2. What role will the UTEC play?
3. Can you disable the spray with the UTEC when you don't want it on? Requires a non spray Map when not used?

TIA

You don't really have to re-tune your lower boost or the column before you spray since that will be unchanged. Utec will not really play any big role unless you are using the Spare Solenoid to control your Meth Inj.

Don't make it so complicated, just use the the kit as a standalone since it will automatically turn on or shut off once it sees your min and max boost settings. If you ran out of Meth then just switch to your No-Meth Map.

let me get this straight, so the snow performance controller has a MIN and MAX settings. you set the MIN pressure so that injection starts spraying and it'll have a linear progression till it reaches MAX pressure (which is user pre-set), am i correct?

if so I assume thats the same job that the Vari-cool controller does with the coolingmist kit!!

Yup, It's that simple. Don't complicate it by trying to involve the UTEC either, the Snow kit works quite well. Also you will want to add a on/off switch for the whole meth system so when you run low and switch to your non meth map you won't run to pump dry. Not sure of all the prices out there on the Snow kit but Forged has a VERY good price on this kit
