Default My FI nightmare.

Ok so I've been working on my TN install for the last 2 days. Getting everything removed blah blah blah. I get the crossover pipe mounted and all the other piping for it all situated. I get the wastegate mounted and the set off to mount the turbo. After some tugging and moving me and my friend finally get it mounted. Then I notice on issue..............................

You can notice that where the the intercooler would mount its off about 90 degrees. The member I bought the kit from had it running on his car but the turbo took a dump on him so turbonetics sent him a new turbo and then he just sent me the kit. I looked at vids that he had when the kit was on his car and it looked just like the standard turbonetics kit. The turbo is a GTK 650. I pmd Ed to see what we can do. I hoping I can just send this one back since its new and has never been ran. If not I'm going to have to fab something up so the intercooler will connect. GGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm just so frustrated!

Hmm not good. But I'm sure TN will take care of you. Give them a call.

Yeah can you rotate the compressor section? Or do the bolts not line up then? I know nothing about the GTK's.

i would just lift up and rotate the whole car so the turbo will then be aimed the right way.

Dont even need to unbolt it, just loosen the bolts around the perimeter and rotate however you want. So easy a caveman could do it.

I would verify all of this with Turbonetics before you do anything. Right now it's partially on them to right the situation, if you mess with it then you might not be able to return it. Sounds like it is an easy fix though.

^^^^Thanks I know..... Anyways. So I talked to Ed and this whats going down.

We wont take parts back even if they are new so you would have to sell it yourself. You can contact Vinny Ten @ 631-414-7590 and he can sell you a new turbo at his price as he is my number one distributor in the east coast........I called them already for you so just contact them and he can help you. Also go to turboneticsownersclub.com and you can sell that turbo as there is a classified section where others may want that turbo.

Glad it was an easy fix, as it looks like Turbonetics sure wasn't going
to do much to help you...I take that back...they were willing to sell you a
brand NEW one. So nice of them.

I would personally keep the turbo. Reclock the compressor cover and see how it goes. If worse comes to worse, you can just have the car towed to a good fab shop around town and they could take care of it for you. Probably wouldnt cost much at all. I would also reclock the cartridge so the oil feed is not cocked to the side like that.

JS04......Are you aware the TN kit DOES NOT COME WITH A GTK TURBO. The kit comes with a 60-1 stage 5 with a 77 A/R exhaust housing. I don't know how you were told that turbo came with that kit. The used kit you purchased must have been customized by the original owner. The turbo as clearly stated in the picture does not look new. The coating is flaking so somehow that turbo is used since a brand new turbo would never leave with the coating flaking. We would not take a turbo back unless it was in the box brand new and only from a distributor and not in the condition that unit in the picture was in. Now as posted above you can loosen the bolts and reclock the turbo. However keep in mind that turbo is rated for 575 to 700 hp which is not recommended on a stock block. The 60-1 is properly recommended for the 350z and that is why we include that in the kit.

^^^i know that. like I've already stated my kit is completely custom. i have everything mounted. just for this minor hang up. as far a rotating the turbo. I wanted to make sure as I didn't want to mess it up. a buddy of mine is going to clock it for me since he has done it before. when I got the kit the turbo came in a seperate box that had a yellow tab with the specfics pf it and when it was assembled or whatever. the date was 2 weeks before I got the kit. I know how much the gtk turbo is rated for. hence why I have a spare engine @ home.

you will need a v-band flanged downpipe to hook it up to that gorgeous turbocharger.

oe turbonetics kit comes with a 4-bolt discharge turbine housing.

You can get a vband to 4 bolt adapter as well! if you still have the stock downpipe that is. Although I would imagine you have custom piping because the stock piping diameter would make the GTK a bit pointless.

Good luck on the install!

^^^Correct, I have an adapater plate that goes from 4bolt to vband. Ed I wasn't trying to sound like TN wasn't going to help me. I just needed to figure out what I needed to do. In the 2days of doing this install I've had maybe 8hrs of sleep. When we finally got the turbo to connect with the the up pipe. (Which was a royal pain) it was 2am. Then I saw how it was facing and went ballastic. Hell I probably scared the sh*t out of my buddy. Then I figured I was either going to have to sell the kit/sell the turbo/or fab up something. I'm glad I don't have to do either 3 of those choices.
