How far are you from Tulsa OK? I'd be happy to take a look at it if you'd like.

you should get hot air pretty quickly without revving the engine. it sounds like you may still have some air in your coolant system.

Better late than never,
I too was having difficulty with engine overheating and spraying the green stuff on my engine hood. If you have performed the "Pathfinder cooling mod" you no longer have that little valve to bleed air out of your coolling system. A friend recommended that I go a dealership and have my radiator put on a vacuum and suck the air out. They do this to BMW's all the time. It cost $45, no fuss no mess.

not true....

the bleeder has nothing to do with cooling modification. You have the APS TT which means the 'T' that has the bleeder in it was removed and replaced with a 'T' that feeds the LHS turbo with coolant. Due to the difficulty of purging the system, if your installer was smart, they would have left the bleeder alone and resplit the line to install the feed to the turbo.

Maybe am using the wrong terminology, but the purge valve on passenger side cooling pipe that connects to cast aluminum part that carries fluid from Bank 1 to Bank 2, When you do the "pathfinder mod" you must cut the valve off the cooling pipe and replace it with a short rubber hose.

I have a question. If you have air in the coolant system, does this cause to leak coolant at the bottom of the radiator after a drive? If I just need to bleed the system, this will save me money on buying a new radiator, which I thought was going to be my solution. Thanks.

no, your radiator is leaking so it has nothing to do with air in the system.

if you do get a new radiator look into mishimoto imo but other aluminum radiators are a plus. it could be a leak in your lower hose? start w/ the small details first

Thanks binder and viva. I checked my hoses lower and upper and no leak from there. I am thinking of getting a new radiator and I came across koyo, mishimoto, and megan. megan is the cheaper one of the three. Is megan an ok brand to get or should I spend an extra $60 for the mishimoto? Thanks.

get the koyo - new v-cores go for about $300 these days and there are at least 2 used ones in the marketplace right now. as for the mishimoto one, it will work fine, but i've heard some bad stories about its fitment. i've heard nothing about the megan radiator (didn't even know it existed )

thanks. I learned a few new things from this forum. yeah, I read something on another forum implying that mishimoto are knock offs or something like that. I came across megan while searching on the market place. I got koyo replaced into my car today. hopefully comes out good and will bleed out my coolant system just to try it myself. the mechanic probably did it for me already, but will go ahead and do it anyways. thanks again to all.

mishimoto does require minor tweaking to be honest. i removed the rubber stoppers underneath the oem radiator and shaved them down w/ a pocket knife, then it fit just fine. as for being a knock-off, uh i strongly doubt that. they are a well known brand and excellent customer service. just ask any one of us w/the mod. i found some cheap ones when i went shopping but i didnt want an aftermarket radiator w/ plastic parts. these guys are knowledgeable when it comes trouble shooting. make sure there is a warranty
