Default Custom build with GTM tune

Long time member, minimal poster.
First off, thanks everyone for all of the help, support, & great deals. This whole experience has been educational with good times & bad times, stressful to say the least. I installed almost everything myself.
I started boosting on my stock motor with the Stillen SC. There weren't many options back then & Stillen is right around the corner from me. I had fun but got bored of it, so I added a 55 shot of n2o. After a year & a half & a major oil consumption problem, I went to a local dyno day where the car dynoed at 300hp with 7 psi & a 55 shot. I got pissed & tore the motor out. I sold the Stillen SC & Zex kit for dirt cheap to fellow members.

I then had my motor built & I put it back in. A cam cap wasn't tightened properly & caused damage to the exhaust cam. I pulled the motor again, tore it apart, had all clearences & parts checked, & then re-installed it. ( All in my driveway on jack stands by myself).

I drove it 3000 miles un-tuned, got a racing ticket, speeding ticket, & smog referee ticket all in one month. I had to bring the car back to "stock-like" form to get it to pass smog. No time to re-install the turbos so I drove it "stocklike" for another 2000 miles.

I recently re installed everything. Luckily I have been able to rent a lift. Anyways... I'm not looking for huge #'s at this point, all I want to do is drive the friggen car. I took my car to GTM for a conservative tune. Next I'll install an Innovative wide band A/F, boost gauge, 600cc injectors, Aquamist WI, then go back to GTM for a 10-12psi tune.

I picked the car up today & I am happy.
There has been 2 hick-ups at WOT though.

why only 7 PSI on such a nice build. I'd get a lot more aggressive on the tune. GL man and stay away from the fuzz.

That looks like 550+ whp (DJ) potential to me on pump gas.

Congrats on completing the build and tune. The hiccups could be the UTEC transitioning? I'd recommend upgrading the EMS if you can and see what she can do!

EDIT: quick question with those actuators - how are you getting 7 psi? Are you plumbed for external wastegates?

Yeah, for a built engine like that, I would ditch the UTEC for a Haltech or F-Con V-Pro (or maybe a ProEFI) Heck, on my non-built engine with JWT's, I ditched the UTEC because I disliked the hiccups and various other UTEC idiosyncrancies.

After that long personal ordeal...I am sure that 7psi is just fine for now. Sorry to hear about your issues. Drive safely, and have fun!

Thanks guys. The fuel return and small injectors limited the tune. I've only put 5000 miles on her in the last 2+ years, so 7 psi will be fine for a while

That's funny, I coincidentally earned my 2 speeding & smog ref tickets on the corner of Beach & PCH.

Overzealous made this "head streangthening mod" way back, seemed like a good mod. Look it up. The only thing I was concerned was that the bolts are steel, I would have made them aluminum.

I'll post pics today.

When I can afford to bump the boost, 500+ will be my limit. Stock headgasket

The hiccups are quite scary, the motor turns off for a second & throws you forward then back again. I would like to get a better EMS but am so broke after the past few months. Luckily the actuators weren't pre-loaded all the way, no external wastegates.

What do you guys think?
1. Innovative wide band
2. boost gauge
3. install my aquamist WI kit
4. 600cc injectors
5. tranny build (I already have the upgraded clutchpacks waiting for install)
6. Haltec

^Intense fab made 900whp with the stock headgasket and runs 600whp tune at the track with no problems.

How are you running 7psi on 11.5psi springs?

Easy, Just hook the boost controller up backwards. Works like a charm.

Good to hear that the stockers will do the job
George, thanks for the heads up. I have been checking your thread every couple of days to see if you sold those 600cc's yet. I don't even have enough $$ to fill my tank right now

Did I hook the manual boost controller up backwards
I swear I pre-loaded the actuators so that they were stronger than the APS ones. I have seen 11-12 psi a few times with no boost controller hooked up & APS fuel system. My friend & I temporarily installed a Innovative wideband & boost gauge & it seemed to hit 11-12 psi safely.
Sam said it's holding 7 psi now & the injectors are maxed. You can see it tapering off up top.
Thing that sux is I had Technosquare raise the rev limit to 7100 to fix my AT mode not shifting on time. I didn't know he would set the limit to 6500(due to lack of fuel up top). Now I have to manually shift sooner to avoid bouncing off the rev limit.

Works on both internal and external wastegate systems?

what made you choose 10:1 pistons as opposed to lower compression? I'm thinking of 10:1 too. Just wanted some opinion. looks good!
