Yeah, I noticed that the huge gains are right around the same RPM's that the Extreme kit is known to reach peak boost. It looks like the Stage 3 cams are potentially a very good match with those turbos.

i was thinking the same thing, but we expected it up top AFTER 5000rpms...Time will tell, i want ot put about 1000 miles on it before hitting higher boost levels..

However, upon looking again at the dyno charts...

I noticed that the Stage 3 cams make less power below 3500 RPM before the turbos are fully spooled. I guess it really is a calculated compromise afterall to get more power in the top half of the powerband.

Nice numbers! Now I want to see some comparisons between this BC 3 and the GTM stage 2 turbo cam (also 272s).

With him used to AWD, and the driving skills that run in the Family, I might not have a car come Monday..

Did you use timing gears to correct the cam timing? BC cams have been know to be WAAAYYYY off with Stock cam timing, and needing cam gears to correct. Infact, this months Dsport(?) Had an Evo X tested with Crower V3's and they were WAY off.

Greaser on Freshalloy Had the same problem, as did a **** load of other people on KA-T.org

Recheck it if you didn't. Knowing How Crower works, the V3's should be kicking the V2's *** in Mid-high RPM power.

Are you saying that the cams just have to be advanced or retarded from their normal position or are the cams improperly ground?

Yes on both counts. I've seen this happen a LOT. When they tested them in the magazine, they had them dynoed twice. Once just dropping them in, and again, after they indexed them to BC specs. They lost a lot of power in the powerband on default settings, but once they were indexed they made power everywhere. The intake and exhaust cams had to be advanced 3 degrees and retarded 2, or something crazy like that.

Correction, it was Turbo Magazine:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=343818

Crower V2's
"Ok, but I had to degree them in and move them quite a bit to get them to zero (factory specs)"

Crower V3's
"Rough idle, sounds mean but power was off. Cams needed to be degreed, were off by 3-5 degrees per cam."

And again

"v3's are FAR from bolt on. they REQUIRE dyno tuning/degreeing."

The VQ35 is different from the EVO and S14 Motors, in the fact that it does not have user adjstable cam gears. The VQ35 relies on an oil pressure fed solenoid to advance cam timing, there is no adjustment to be made as far as indexing the cams. And as you can see, we did not loose tons of power, we made tons of power, at 3psi LESS boost..
And on a side note, there is no "Bolt In cam" on any application...The car must be tuned for the cams or your simply wasting the money on install and parts, and not getting the FULL potential of your new investment.

Also, one thing everyone overlooks, is the propper clearancing of the valve buckets to the cams...It is very time consuming and mythotical but MUST be done when doing cams.
