Brian Crower Stage 3's Preliminary test results are in!
We finally got some dyno comparisons on the BC stage 3 cams!! To my knowledge, no one has done a direct cam to cam comparison on the Stage 2's to the Stage 3's...
The motor we used was the same motor, same turbo kit, same everything, with the exception of a new set of pistons and rings (same exact ones CP 8.5:1), and a knife edged crank. I guess scientifically one could say the tests results arent an EXACT comparison, but its the closest the community has to one.
The new rings were seated and brokenin on the dyno and road for about 40 miles, and we began to do some dyno pulls with a conservative base map tune. The A/F ratio hovered around 11.3 to 10.9 in the upper rpms, with mildly conservative timing. The last thing we wanted to experience was detonation on a new set of pistons.
Even with a very conservative tune and low boost level of 11psi (wastegate spring pressure) we manage to get the following results, and we were pretty amazed to say the least...
what we found is that at lower boost levels, we made 70Ftlbs of Tq more and 50 hp more at 4200 rpms!!This is some real drivable powerband that we felt like we were missing before with the APS extreme turbos.
If you lookat the two dyno charts, you can see that:
The RED is the old Stage 2 set up at about 14.5 psi.
The BLUE is the BC stage 3's at about 10.5-11psi.
We are confident that with more boost, the results will be amazing !!!! Stay tuned for more updates as we tune..

Interesting results with impressive gains. Not at all what I would've expected.
No adjustments were made to your ignition advance table and VTC? Same fuel? On the DD is there a way to compare the two runs without any correction?
I see you skipped the 1800 mile breakin

I realize that there was a psi difference. I was just noting how the power starts to lay down and go flat around 5800 on the Stage 3 cams. On the stage 2 cams, the power is still climbing when the dyno graph stops.

I clould show a graph with the 2 of the pulls with a 0% correction to DD numbers, but the gains will still be gains in the same places..
Yeah, and we said F'it on the 1800 mile break in..

If I was building today... oh well. I would like to know more about idle quality - if you had to bump it etc. I have a stable idle at 750 rpms with my JWT S2 so can't complain about that at all...

If I was building today... oh well. I would like to know more about idle quality - if you had to bump it etc. I have a stable idle at 750 rpms with my JWT S2 so can't complain about that at all...
