Coolingmist Stage 1 without a tank was only like 180 bucks shipped. Only things I needed was a few extra screws, wire connectors, fuse holder, 5/16 drill bit, 11/32 drill bit and a tap. Took about 3 hours to install it because it was a pain to find a spot in the front of the car to mount the pump and remove the intake pipe. I actually mounted the pump higher than the tank against what is actually recomended. Tested and works perfect! Set to pump at 1 psi +

 

Nice now you have to hide those wires.

 

nice man! i've been looking at a few kits to get done as well? That's amazingly cheap! whata save, but is there anything else missing, seems to b a huge decrease in price for it to b only missing a plastic container! Hows it working? And at 1psi? that's going to b a lot of spray isn't it? I've always heard people having it kick on at about 3, what made u decide to go 1, any reason?

 

Well the Stage 1 kit is very basic kit thats activated by boost. 1 psi should be good because the Vortech makes boost so late and I have problems with detonation anyways.


And yes....I need to hide the wires but my fingertips are sore and the car is back at GTM for a blower change, retune and some other stuff :P

Damn you, I just told myself that I wasn't going to get meth. I would like to go the same route with the windshield washer reservoir, but curious about the pump setup - if long-term it works being above the reservoir.

 

its a pretty strong pump, dont see really why it would a issue unless you buy some weak *** pump

 

what size nozzle are you using? with my setup, the nozzle that came with the kit was much too small to have any effect on AF. you'll definitely want to log meth vs no meth to make sure its big enough. at 1 psi turn on, you'll blow thru a gallon of meth a day. mine goes on at 9 psi and i use 1/4 gallon a week.


all the pumps are the same, but just rebadged Shurflo's. You can sometimes find the pumps on sale for 80$ from like McMaster Carr. That way you can build the CoolingMist "setup" for under 135$. Tons of DIY parts lists for water/meth injection on the web.

 

Just FYI, I would tap an LED that you can mount inside the car just so you know when the pump is spraying. I have this on my kit and I tapped it between the controller and the wire that goes to the pump. I was driving today and I stopped in a gas station, then I checked my front Tire Pressure when I heard the pump keep spraying even though my car was turned off. Then I looked inside my car and saw that the LED was just lit up. I looked deeper and realized that my controller is just sending voltage to the pump all the time hence the pump keep pumping. I just disconnected my Meth Kit right now and I'll send the controller back for checkup.

It is nice to have an indicator if you are actually spraying. I get a kick sometimes just by looking at that LED lit up at my designated PSI.. lol

I actually have one of these kits sitting at my house, I may install it when i do my JWT TT kit. I had it on the MR2 and it made 23 whp at 15psi on m1 50/50 mix.

Good to know. Also if you ever want a cheap container, look at comet kart sales go cart gas tanks! $30 on clearance for a 4 qt tank lasted me a month on 9psi activation 50/50 mix

 

I dont know what size exactly but the vendor I bought it from gave me a nozzle for a 400 whp application. Whoa you burn alot of meth.... My car boost 9-10 psi at redline and the boost doesnt even begin untill past 3500 rpms so I dont think ill be burning that much meth. Damn, now you got me worried, I should call GTM and tell him to change it to around 5 psi or something lol

 

I assume GTM is doin a new tune for the meth? I doubt they would tune with meth coming on at 1 psi anyhow. Maybe if it was a progressive kit.
