Default ATI people >>> EGT gauges, etc

For the people that are getting the ATI Procharger kit:

What gauges are you planning to add, if any? I'm thinking of getting a dual EGT gauge at a minimum. It would be nice if those planning to use an EGT gauge could work together to come up with the "best" location for the probe(s). This way, it can serve as a good tuning reference for others. Mine will be getting dyno tuned with wideband A/F meter, so by checking the EGTs afterwards I'll have a good indicator of what the temps should be when tuned properly.

I have thought about buying a wideband A/F meter, but the EGT gauges and probes are much cheaper. Any thoughts on this?

What about other gauges? I might add fuel pressure and boost gauges just to keep an occasional eye on things to make sure they're working properly. Once again, any thoughts?

Also, my experience is mostly with Autometer gauges. I would appreciate any input from those that have used or will use gauges from Greddy, Apexi, etc. Those seem rather expensive, but they do seem to have some added functionality such as memory, peak, and playback. Are they worth the extra money?

So many gauges, so little space.

I'm definitely getting a wideband O2, and EGT. I'd like to get a boost gauge, oil temp gauge and fuel pressure gauge, but I wouldn't know where to put them all. Digitron makes some pretty good combo gauges with a lot of functions combined into one. They're not very pretty, but they do the job.

See this thread https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=35951 for a good wideband O2 with my comments about purchasing several and then building them myself. Plus the new one will come with an EGT input.

Someone needs to build a 2 or 3 gauge pod for our cars. I wonder if anyone has yet? I searched, but found nothing, and autometer's site doesn't show anything either.

Thanks Jesse. That wideband setup looks pretty good. Supposedly it can use a sensor that costs less than $30, so the total cost isn't too bad at all! As I said in the thread you linked, I'm may be interested in buying one of the kits. Looks like I need to do more research.

Yeah, I've been looking and have yet to find one. If you must have it, you could probably adapt an a-pillar pod from another car to work, although it probably wouldn't look very good.

Guys, I can make a plate to go in the stock navigation area that will hold 2-3 gauges. It would be brushed stainless.

I would prefer to see an entire a-pillar replacement, something clean that you could pull the stock piece out and replace.

Plenty out for all other cars, we'll see something sometime.

As far as the a-pillar versus nav area for gauges, I'm not sure which I'd prefer. At this point, I figured I'd just make a plate for the nav area to hold whatever gauges I add. I'd actually prefer that option because they could be hidden when not being used. I love the z interior and I'd hate to muck it up with more gauges. Of course, with the a-pillar pod the gauges are probably more easily read while driving.

For functionality, the A-pillar would be the best for me, but I'd want them to be discrete. So they'd need to match the interior.

You, know what would be real nice A Heads up display. One that could show the information you want, such as EG Temp, A/F Ratio etc, but you could change what you want to display. That would totally kick butt.

OK, now someone go make it!!!

If you think about it, all you'd really have to do is to have an LED display the pertinent information backwards mount the display at the right angle on the dash and then put some reflective tint in that area. The tint would have to be transparent obviously, but reflective when light is shined on it.

That doesn't seem too hard, why are you still reading this post. Go invent it.

Actually, I think someone does make some kind of HUD kit. Let me see if I can find it....

Ok, here it is:
http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/vsd_top.htm

Unfortunately, it appears that they don't allow for display of the things we're talking about here. Maybe there's something else out there, or you could engineer your own HUD.
