Default Stillen Supercharger - Engine Warranty

I was curious about the engine warranty on Stillen is now offering with their supercharger, so I called today and talked to one of their techs. It costs $295, covers the engine only, no drivetrain (tranny, etc.). The term of coverage is 3 years or 36000 miles.

I asked if the warranty was still good up to some boost level higher than the kits 5.7 psi, and the tech wasn't very clear about it. He said not really, but we'll try to take care of you. I read that to mean if you plan to increase boost later on, don't bother with the warranty. Still, very interesting to know there is a forced induction option that allows you to have a warranty on the engine.

On a side note, I also asked about the performance of the kit in stock form, as well as a dyno graph. The tech says they have not released a dyno graph yet, and they don't have any performance numbers such as 0 to 60, 1/4 mile, etc.

I remember reading somewere that they were seeing 1/4 times from mid to mid/low 13's. Which to me probably means 13.2-13.5 times probably around 106 Mph. Not sure its worth 4K for the SC, around 500-800 for installation and the price of buying and painting a new funkly looking hood.

$6K+ for probably .5-.8 drop in the 1/4 doesn't sound worth it for me.

The Stillen ECU that comes with the SC is a piggyback. It is not adjustable. So no adjusting your boost . The more I think about it the more I realize Stillen is not the way to go for FI.
They take your stress bar and give you some monstrosity of a hood. With procharger out there I fear that Stillen will not be selling many.

I agree, ATI is really the way to go right now. I just think its interesting that Stillen is offering this engine warranty. I doubt I'll be going FI at this point anyway.

I was checking out a freinds G35 Coupe MT and noticed that it doesn't have a strut tower brace...? What gives! The Z has one but the sister ship doesn't?

Correct me I am wrong but I believe the strut bar on G coupes only come in the "sport" model.. The models with the 18's and MT tranny..

The Stillen SC does have adjustable boost, but not electronically and not at this time. They allow you to alter the boost by replacing the pulleys on the SC. However, this requires some maintenance and the replacement pulleys have not been released. Check out the video at http://www.sportzmagazine.com/Z_Home.html. They have a 25 minute video featuring the roadster and the Stillen Z. While the Z is on a dyno, the tech states that they are developing a pulley set that will allow you to select your boost.
