you're right if it's water cooled it's not as big of a deal. Even if it wasn't, if you don't drive the car hard for the last couple minutes you'll be fine. But it is a fairly easy install, should be write up on here.

so since its a water cooled turbo shouldnt be to much of a problem not having a turbo timer? i do let it idle for a few seconds when i stop. just as long as im not horsing on it then shutting it off right away?

just before you reach your final destination, just cruse your way there. and you can turn it off right away or let it set for 20 sec

Oil cooled turbo's are more prone to failing if not properly cooled. The oil has a tendancy to "bake" the seals in the turbo. With a water cooled turbo, your system is cooling the liquid, and it retains less heat.

another neat way to get a turbo timer and add some security to your car:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1083710247578

viper alarm system with 2 way pager and built in turbo timer.

the price includes install.

I did a whole write up on installing a turbo timer. Go to this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ht=turbo+timer
My turbo timer was a Blitz FATT DCIII but the wire colors are exactly the same for the Apexi. Trust me on this as I have installed two Apexi turbo timers on buddies cars before.

Its incredibly easy to do. If you aren't comfortable soldering you could always use t-taps.

Bestbuy option isn't bad but do keep in mind, chances are they wont install it on a 6 speed. doesn't mean you can't buy it and install it yourself.

Either way, I don't think it's needed, I thought about doing a turbo timer but have found the same answer over and over, if its water cooled its good to go.

I am easy on it for the last couple miles then idle for about 20 seconds. The turbo seems to wind down completely within 15 seconds of shutoff.

Even with a water cooled bearing installing a turbo timer won't hurt. Yes in theory with a water cooled bearing housing the bearing temps stay low enough to prevent any coking when the motor is shut off but even still it doesn't hurt to let the motor cool down for a minute prior to shutdown. Turbo timers are relatively cheap at $100 and take under an hour to install. You could do the alarm thing but again more money when you already have a factory alarm that works just fine. To each their own. its personal preference honestly.

Turbo timer install was pretty easy. I took a look at the write up Miaplayer posted when I did my install and it helped a lot.

Quick summary of his post for which wires you need to tap into are :

12v (+) white/blue stripe
Ignition (+) black/red stripe
Accessory (+) white/black stripe
And any good ground
