I know they offer 3 different inserts for the HKS SSQV bov that change the sound up. Just curious to whats most popular or if everyone keeps the one it comes with. Im color blind as all hell and not even sure what color comes with it. I know they offer a gold and a purple.

Your Lucky i`ve just purchased the SSQV 2 weeks ago, the insert comes with the SSQV is Metalic its the Polished Version of the Golden one they have, but they sell the Optional Round one which sounds cool also, you can totally remove the fin and the SSQV will sound like the GReddy RS.

I remember when mine looked that clean. LOL. I like the more fluttering type sound which it provides at a shift around 4k but its got more of a whistle/burst sound up higher.

 

that's funny.. i hate the flutter and prefer the single psh.

 

My Tial 50mm does the flutter below 4k then the striaght whoosh when really cranking on it....is that the valve opening and closing rapidly for the flutter sound?

 

Ok well Im thinking about buying the SSQV and I guess I dont understand the previous statement. I DONT want the flutter sound, I want a crisp PSHH. So do you take the insert out or do I buy the purple round insert??

Just buy the BOV and keep it as its don`t remove the Insert otherwise it will give u a Whooooooooosh instead of Pitsssssssssst

The Purple insert will give you another cool Whistle sound but no need to buy it if u like the triple fin the one which comes with the BOV.

 

why in gods name would anyone want the HKS it leaks BAD. Its ment for the the VW people that have really small turbos. I would sudjest the greddy or turboXS typeH-RFL. I used to run the RFL on my 9second talon with NO leaks had the greddy befor hand and once i broke 20lbs on a super 20g it started to leak. Just my opion

 

I run an HKS (the older version) on one of my cars....600 whp, zero leaks

 

with the older generation ssqv

gold: high(er) pitched psshh
purple: lower more subdued pssshh.
silver: normal high pitch psshhh.

 

no reaks.
i have no insert either.

 

Silver(stock) in both of them.

They all come with the silver insert out the box, it may look purple because of the middle part.

 

I want to get this. Is the version 2 of SSQV better than the first? Any welding involved?
