greddy supplies their own studs to replace the stock studs on the Greddy TT kit.

Yes the stock studs are plenty strong for anything you want to bolt on.

here is the reason i ask, i did not at first b/c i did not want there to be confusion.

my greddy kit was used, it did not come with hardware. i bought a new set of nissan studs and had them machined to the length specified by greddy so they would fit. i have been told that the greddy studs are the same grade as stock, just shorter.

anyways, my kit has been installed, car has been driven for about 1400 miles without abuse, then i towed the car to the dyno, the did their pre-tune check and found 7 missing manifold studs. i wanted to confirm that the OEM material is ok and that they didnt stretch or whatever, and if this is the fault of the guy who installed the kit.

maybe this answer will be more useful to you since you didn't like my first one.

the stock studs should be torqued to 11 ft-lb into the heads, according to the service manual.

so you guys thinks its possible they just backed out being under torqued in just 1400 miles???? or is it more likely they were never installed?

it is hard to imagine that they backed out. hopefully, you mechanic tightened downthe nuts on the studs. with the nut providing enough pressure, the studs would have a hard time unseating themselves...............

but stranger things have happened!

is it possible that SEVEN of them broke in this amount of time?? i havent seen the car with my own eyes since this was discovered, the tuning shop is 2 hours from my house, they found the missing studs while working under the car.

i am really at a loss on what to do. it will cost me 100 bux in gas to tow it home, and no guarantee my mechanic will make it right, and if he does say he will take care of it, then we figure out the studs are broken i STILL have to pay labor.

yea, i think im Fed either way, i just need to set the damn car on fire.

Haha, I don't think I'd go that far.

Using stock studs shouldn't be a problem, and I really doubt they are broken. Sounds like they just needed a little more attention during install.

Don't forget to drop the kit off with me first.

i am somewhat in a money crunch. but the car is at a shop different from the one who did the install, so i have to trailer the car from one to the other currently, 100 bux a trip in gas for my 6.0 tower. then i have to get the studs, then get the car back to the tuner. the damn thing is nickel and diming me to death. plus Import Alliance in Nashville is only 2 weeks away and i would really like to go.

I don't remember the GReddy manifolds that well, but if i remember right the manifold has more holes in it than you use. The heads have 4 bolt holes around each port, but only use two of them. Are you sure your Dyno place knows that? I think they are probably seeing the empty holes and freaking out over nothing. Check the GReddy website for the install instructions to be sure though.

I paid 75 cents each for my studs at Oreillys. They bought them from a company named Dorman.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. You may be right...
Check it out. Out of the 12 provided holes in the manifold, you only use 6 studs. If they told you 7 were missing, you are probably only really missing 1 stud.
Just a thought. Truly if you were missing 7, the manifold would be hanging on by a thread and the car would sound like crap...I mean there is no way you could miss the sound of seven missing exhaust manifold studs. I am guessing the shop is mistaken.
Hopefully you get some good news back.
Good luck.
