Default Greddy TT Installation

Since the Greddy Install Instructions suck so bad, does any one have detailed pictures or just details in general on bolting the turbos to the manifolds, then down pipes, then waste gates?

I don't know where to use the studs vs. the bolts.

I've looked at rrmedicx Installation over and over but maybe he did it differently, or I just can't tell from the pictures. Greddys Instructions (photos) seem to show MORE studs than what they send with the kit?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. Its a used kit so Im trying to losely put it all together to see if Im missing anything.

For illustration purposes;

Before Turbos Installed;
You can see 8 Studs Installed in the Manifolds. Makes sense, you are given 8 in the Kit.

After Turbos Installed;
You can see another 4 Studs Installed on the turbos

The kit was used I only have what was shipped, which seems to be 7 studs

Not sure what we're doing for the install yet, my Mechanic and I will decide once we start but we know that pulling the motor saves alot of hassle.

You do not have to pull the motor as it has been done quite a few times but it is a real pain in the *** to do.You can find the other parts at local exhaust shops for the studs and what not.

I bought my kit new and didn't like the fact that the instructions were Sh&t, so I brought a couple of sample studs to ACE hardware and made sure I had enough to complete the install. Just as you are thinking, I mocked everything up before diving in with both feet. I also had incorporated wastegate relocators and dump pipes, which doesn't make mine a stock Greddy install so that may be where things change for your sake. If I can offer any assistance please don't hesitate to ask. Good Luck.
P.S. i probably have plenty of pictures in my computer archives to help you with just about any task. Just ask. If I don't I'm sure someone on this forum probably does.

^^ Ya I've already taken your entire thread on the motor pull and TT installation and put it into a word document for reference. That thread has been a great help.

I found some M8x40mm studs however I need 30mm and they are one piece, not uneven, but whatever works I guess.

The best store around was not home depot but rather ACE hardware. They allow you to buy just about any size bolt, stud, nut with choice of pitch in thread, and in any given quantity. Give them a chance, if you have one nearby. They should have the stud type with a split in the middle so the stud doesn't just spin all the way thru. Good Luck.

that's how I felt when I put my TN kit on a couple years ago. I put the turbo kit on first and made sure all was well. then, after I was convinced that everything was perfect, I wen't ahead and installed my UTEC and made sure that was working well. then, I finally went ahead and installed the bigger injectors. overall it was very time consuming and took me many days to thoroughly test things. I'm glad I did it that way though. I was able to diagnose everything and if I had a problem, I'd know exactly what was causing the issue. It turned out that I had no issues, but I was glad to be safe, and not sorry!

Well guys...we pulled the motor. I'm cross posting what I posted on a local forum. So heres an update of what took around 8-9 hours today. We took one look this morning, and said pull the motor, any one who has done this with their motor IN the car has my respect.

Wow, what a day. I thought I'd make a new post more dedicated to the actual project at hand. My car...looks like a shell of a G35 at the moment. Progress was good, motor, trans pulled, completly torn apart, started bolting up new manifolds, then called it a day. The only stumbling blocks have been the rusted, corroded, siezed bolts ALL over my car. I have so much respect for Getty and what he does, I'm glad he's been able to keep his patience cause I can see what he really wanted to do to my car. He's never seen so many useless brackets and clips holding everything together. The G35 is built with all 10mm bolts it seems LOL

Also after going through today, I realize now I made the right choice with Getty, he might not think so but I trust him with everything he does and says.

Anyways, on to some pics. I only had my cell phone but its better than nothing...

Front Fascia Off

Small Pile of Parts

Horns and Crash Sensors

Front Bracing removed, radiator, fans, condensor hanging.

All gone.

Pics of harness for documentation purposes

Hi Motor.

Hi Upper Plenum

Hi Car in the air. You look funny...

Hi Getty

Hi Lower Plenum

Hi massive cart of tools and hardware

Hi Engine Crane

Bye Transmission

Hi Transmission

Hi Clutch

Comin out

Hi Car, it's Ok, dont be sad.

Hi Motor, you like boost?

Parts

I need to find some M10x25mm 1.25P Studs tomorrow, 2 are ****ed, thats our first hiccup for tomorrow.

Thanks for looking, and respecting me for not wanting to be bothererd, honestly a few people walked in, I think Getty wanted to dance fight them.
