Default Plenum spacer with turbo...

I've been told that upgading my plenum spacer on an FI engine will do nothing...

What's your word on this...

Thanks

If it helps N/A why wouldn't it help when there is even more air being pushed through? Do it.

I had a plenum spacer added when I had the TT's done. I find it gives me a stronger mid range from about 3k - 5.5k. rpm

BTW: I have a Motordyne plenum on my '05.

not sure how true that is, the airflow is simpler with the spacer in theory, but my understanding with dyno results from a local dealer is that a spacer has almost no effect on FI. I could be mistaken, but since the air is pressurized, at a given pressure it wouldnt make a noticeable difference.

My thought would be if you have 1 cu ft. air trying to get into the cylinders at 8psi, what is another .01cu ft.....

if anything i would think it would only allow faster airflow at high rpms when the blower is having more difficulty keeping up with the engine sucking air

spacer is NA mentality. go with an after market plenum instead.

This is why adding a spacer lowers boost but makes the engine more efficient and thus more power. Weather its 5 horsepower or 20, I still think a spacer is worth the money.

+1 couldn't have said it better... This is why cams, head work, etc all benefit FI and NA alike.

Alright so we got a bunch of opinions so far. Any shops care to pitch in and give us they test results?

hope we can retro fit a GTR plenum on the Z....I'd go with that before I'd go with anything else.

it will deffinitely help. regardless of the pressure more volume allows for more flow thats why you get such a big difference in powa from upgrading just .5" on the exhaust piping. I have a spacer for sale btW pm me if you want it.

dual TB's would be a good first step

for the people saying just get a new plenum, why not do both? spacer + plenum would certainly be better than just 1 of them. like said before, every bit helps, and typically when boosted every little bit helps a bunch

I installed the APS tall boy with my STS and it made a big improvement. Car rips to redline without any flat spots it had before. I think a spacer would do the same more or less.

The spacer itself cracked, or the plenum?

GT-R intake manifold on a VQ...not likely. But we shall see, I guess.
