Review on Toyo R888, and updated pics, etc
I picked up a set of 305-35-18 R888.
I love this tire. They are a tad wide on my 10.5" advans, but not to the point of looking bad. I got the rear end aligned and ended up with -1.2 camber at both sides, the furthest we could go without putting the SPC camber bolts.
So, running the same tune and boost, but changing from 295-35-18 pzero corsa, and getting rid of a bit of neg camber, both at 3.3FD,... i went from spinning terrible in 1st, 2nd, and most of third... to not spinning second and barely spinning first. Last night I had to take it out and do some tuning and put in a little more boost to get it to spin 2nd again.
i remember with the 3.5FD on street tires and aggressive camber i could spin 4th on a cool night... so i am much more confident when running into fast cars at lower speeds now.
other news with my car... going to go thru a rebuild soon. my turbos are smoking pretty bad. my fault from running the engine low on oil. leakdown test is good but i want to change my setup a bit so im currently considering when i want to tear-down since i dont have too long before winter in chicago where the car is undriveable. i plan to build a custom engine harness with bulkheads on the firewall for simple service, and put one of our CJM intake manifolds on, and a ton of other small things ill post abotu when complete that will really help organize these terribly messy engine bays.
i plan to get you guys a couple interesting race videos soon. more on that later.
lastly, my car has recently gone thru another repaint.
if you know the car, you know it started black, then it was graphite gray. now its a little different. for old stuff look here

recently i painted it a custom silver. its very close to a factory color but a bit darker and more metallic in person when compared side by side. i added the MG rear diffuser and a-pillars, added a seibon hatch with lexan, and did the roof and hood in matte black. also some minor other changes such as changed the chrome front badge to brushed alum finish and nicer mesh in my front vents, matte blacked the b pillars, painted the handles. blah blah... the paint quality turned out essentially flawless, i have never been so happy with paint work before. heres a couple pics...

I have a G35 with 19x10.5 Volk GTS wheels going on the back with a 30 offset. Also, I'm rolling the rear fenders. I'm planning on running the 305/30/19 R888 tires and hoping that I don't have any clearence issues.
great looking car - what kind of prep work before repainting?
Also what offset are your wheels? I want my first gear to be useful again. are 295 available and will a 30 offset have any issue with clearing fenders? I have 295 offset ps2 and I still have a little gap... researching tread widths...

Great sticky street tire. Expect about 6-10K miles from them. They do get a little noisy with age...so be prepared.

I run an R888 275/35/18 in the front and a 305/35/18 in the rear. I wouldn't run a regular street tire in front and an r-compound in the back. It might cause braking issues in a panic stop.
