Thanks for the concern. I am actually worried about that aspect, since I've only been down the track on street tires at 476whp in this car. I will be taking it easy and will take a lot of test runs before I go all out. I hear that slicks feel very different and it is easy to get the urge to over correct. I will be very cautious. Everyone has their first big power run sometime, right?

 

I'm going to max out the turbos if possible, but I'll probably run out of fuel pump first (Walbro 255). They say it can only reach 550WHP, but I've already exceeded that, so maybe I'll hit the 700 mark, which is my goal. I should have about 650+ ft-lbs at that level based on my previous dynos. I'll be running C16 for the track, but it should be safe with 110 octane according to my tuner.

 

I have had the car back several times. It was a really long build though. I never even drove the car until July. There were numerous reasons for the lengthy build. Delays with vendors, missing parts from vendors, etc. Also, I added to the build. It went in as a $25k project and is already in excess of $40k and I still need the DR's! I'm fortunate to have 2 other vehicles so I don't have that issue to deal with. I just miss her badly while she's in there!

On the other hand, today may turn out to be the day that she comes home for good!

 

any updates? how's the drive ability with the taller stall? If the stall is set for 3000 rpm does that mean I will never see rpms below that?

where did you have your Z build and tuned at? im currently running 364hp and 318ft lbs of torque @ 6psi. i had my twin turbo setup at atlantic motorsports in gaithersburg, md. i lived in DC at the time and they gave me a hell of a deal on the kit, installation walboro 255 fuel pump, etc.

i too want to get transmission work done, better TC and the rear end upgrades for traction lol

I don't even know if Marshall's car is running right now. I know he was a victim in the SGP mess for sure. I can't see the pics anymore, but I remember that his interior was top notch. Hang in there bro.

Yes, my car is running. The new transmission was built by a Nissan Master Technician in Las Vegas, NV. I have his contact information if anyone is looking to get this done.

My car is losing fuel pressure, so it is being looked at. The walbro was replaced, but I don't think that fixed it. Any ideas on drastic drops in fuel pressure?

For Viva, I think you might be best off going to GTM for the transmission. As far as cost and turn around time and reputation, I think they are the shop to talk to. I personally don't have experience with GTM, so I'm just going by what others have told me. You could also use the builder I used. He is very good and very thorough and uses the best parts for this application. He'll even customize what parts you want to include or not include on your build based on your goals and desires. His turn around is pretty slow, to be honest, but you'll get what you want. Let me know if you want his info. Thanks for the comments as well!

 

The higher stall drives just fine on the street. It just helps you launch at a higher rpm. If you are just cruising, it won't really feel like it accelerates as much below that RPM. It shouldn't be a problem for DD though. You'll still have RPM's throughout the range.

 

mrg if you could send me your builders info it would be greatly appreciated. im going to do some research as far as reputation/costs/performance. if you could give me advice on what to stay away from that would be awesome. i read horror stories on things that sounded like good deals... we all know how those go.

new years update?

 

Twin fuel pumps will be installed next week along with AP Racing BBK (front and rear)in red. I have the car and it is driving well, with the exception of running out of fuel at high boost. We knew the Walbro 255 was going to be a huge limiting factor. Now that the transmission is actually built and working properly, the fuel delivery definitely became apparent quickly. Even at 15 PSI it is running out of fuel (around 525-550WHP). With the twin pumps, the next limiting factor will be the 750CC Injectors, which should be fine for my goals.

My car has officially been under construction since December 11th, 2007. It will hopefully reach completion by January 31st, 2010. While I have a lot that hasn't gone smoothly over the last 2 years of building this car, I also have a lot to appreciate. I know this sounds weird from someone with a car they have only driven a handful of times after investing many $10,000's on building it. Intense Motorsports/Highline International has been great to me. I've made a lot of friends throughout this project. I have learned more than I ever thought I could/would. I enjoy the HELL out of the car when I do drive it,or take it to shows, or to the strip! These are the reasons I enjoy the process, even though it has been painful at times.

I will definitely make a massive post about the car when it is all finished. Cross your fingers for me and hopefully this will be the completion of the project. I have added unbelievably to the original plan and I think that the final result will be much more than I had hoped for originally. A big thank you to everyone for their support, advice, encouragement, and comments throughout this process. I appreciate the members of this forum and hope that I can help you all when you need something.
