Default silly me

...so we are "clear" about Mark Gust...

Before I shipped my car to him...

He stated plainly and clearly to me that:

-SGP "specialized in modified high HP capable automatic transmissions...
-work was performed in house in a special "separate subsidiary SGP shop"...
-he (Mark) was a chemical engineer by training and former employment...
-that he (Mark) tested and designed proprietary parts that were used...
-at the time he was finishing up a lawsuit suing a former partner for stealing his "inventions(?)" A/T info??? and this some how involved Transgo???

These appear to mis statements aka .... lies.

Have a nice day mark.

Now that was confusing. Anyone else think so? Why dont you just have one name for your shop instead of multiple names if you dont mind me asking?

Nah no biggie, Are you asking why it is Overdrive/Jtran?
If so, let me explain........
Overdrive Auto LLC Is a full maintenance and repair facility.
Jtran is a 3 man combination: Full time Builder & mechanic and dream seller,
One Marketing & Sales & One Professional photographer that shoots for a number of mags. In the past yr. we have decided to combine the business into one LLC, While in the process it remains Overdrive/Jtran. Which in then turn becomes a one stop shop! We can not only build you a TT VQ but we can also rotate and balance your tires, and shoot your potential car for a nationwide magazine all while giving you an alignment. Woo Hoo
Or how about maintaining your mom's Corolla Get me. haha It may still be a bit confusing but in the end its a business merging with another Its a process.......

I've always liked how it's JTran "Studio" and just JTran racing or some other motorsport/tuning cliche. What Amber and Johnny are trying to do is to make each project and customer car a rolling piece of art.

Back to SGP for a second. Here's an update on my car.

Approximately 1 week ago, I received an oil control solendoid from GTM that is a crucial part of my turbo system that controls oil flow from the turbo to the oil scavange pump to pull oil away from the turbo because it mounts so low.

I originally brought the car back to SGP back around March of 2008 for a blown turbo. It was rebuilt and replaced and I paid for the rebuilt turbo and misc. parts. This was about June or July of 2008. The day I came by to pick up the vehicle, I drove it to a near by gas station and immediately there was something wrong. The car was not making any boost and a familiar sound was coming from the turbo. Unfortunately the turbo went out again with <100miles on it. It was later discovered that an oil line was twisted and pinched off. Therefore, starving the turbo of oil and blowing another center cartridge. So another turbo had to be rebuilt. Another couple of months and around August I finally get another turbo and I get to pick up the car. The car is smoking badly and running rough. I have the car for about a week but only drive it <100miles because of the smoking issue. I limp it back to SGP. Around this time is when there is a falling out between Johnny and Mark, causing Johnny to leave.

At this point it's suspected that another center cartridge has gone bad. Mark replaces the center cartride with one that he has on his shelf or at his home, I'm not sure. At this point it's around December of 2008. I ask that it be ready for January of 2009 for a car show. At this point the car is still smoking when started. It's suspected that it's just oil in the exhaust. However, oil is now being found on the intake side as well. The car is taken apart again. February rolls around and at this point, it's discovered that the oil control solenoid has been removed and lost. This is whats causing oil to back up into the turbo and leak into the exhaust and intake sides. After discussion with Mark as to how to go about what to do with the missing oil control solendoid, not much of a solution is reached.

At this point I start doing research as to how to get a replacement oil control solenoid, either from APS or suitable replacement. I get a hold of GTM and they just so happen to have a replacement. The part cost app. $200 out of my pocket. The order is placed just before February 22 and the part is received around mid March. I brought the part to SGP the day after I received it which was March 18. I asked that it be ready by end of March. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. I visit on several occassions when I'm off work and see that my car hasn't really moved while other projects are started. I try to be understanding because I know Eric is the only tech there. I finally come in on April 1st and ask when my car will be worked on. I'm told they are just waiting for a lift to be free.

The part was finally installed on April 3rd. The car was started and everything seems to be working but the car isn't running right because the battery has been dead for so long that something is up with the EMS.

Now I am being told I owe app. $700 for labor because Eric was pulled off other jobs to get my car done because I was giving them another deadline. A deadline which has not been met anyways.

Again, I'm trying to be understanding but it's rediculous. I am in no way blaming Eric for any of these delays. He's a good guy and tech, trying his best to do what's right. He has his own issues.

Sorry for the long post. Let me ask you guys and if some of the other vendors can speak up too.

Do you guys think I should be paying anything? Considering that I paid for the initial turbo and repair and that all the subsequent repairs were for things that I did not cause.

To the other vendors, if a customer brought a car to be repaired and paid for the initial repairs and in the process other things went wrong that the customer had no control over, would you make them pay for the subsequent repairs?

Would you have a customer replace a part out of their pocket that you removed and lost in the process?
