If you didn't put the steering shaft back together exactly the way it was, all the slip lights & traction control will go crazy.

that explains it. it is off slightly. i was told it had to be rotated atleast 180* to throw the sensors.
thanks

Mine is notched as well but theres about 40 notches around the shaft... So it's seemingly easy to put the wrong ones together.

yep. It took me a few tries to get it right.
The whiteout i used to mark it smeared onto 3 notches. I drove it in a straight line(to settle the suspension/alignment), farward then back. Jacked it up, removed the shaft, straightened the wheel, then put the shaft back on.
The 1st time I did it, infiniti charged me $80 to fix it. I knew I could fig it out

I get that mis-fire sometimes. It didn't happen when I replaced spark plugs.. or maybe I haven't noticed because I dont drive my Z too much.

I still want to know why the random mysfire comes on. Just because you have a turbo? No, i dont think so. There must be a reason.

- that was a good one.
Do a search, there are many threads about the dreaded CEL issue, some people have fixed and some have not (like me), but YES it will cause you to fail emissions if they plug in to your OBD port.
