Default APS TT with Magnaflow X-Pipe

Hi Guys,

I need some advice.

Currently I have the APS TT with upgraded internals. I have the 2.5 inch APS Tru Dual exhaust. I do not like the exhaust note and I have seen on forums that guys install an X-pipe to improve the exhaust note to a much deeper sound.

I would love to do this but this means that I would not a a true dual exhaust system no more. Do you guys think that this will impact my performance. What would be the pro and cons for running the Magnaflow X pipe.

Please see attachment for pic on X-Pipe.

Kind Regards

Will help make the exhaust sound more balanced and more of a smooth tone. I had a TD 3 inch and hated the sound, so I installed an H-pipe and the note was much better.

same here, had a "H" pipe fabbed up and installed on my aps dual setup and it gave it a much more balanced deeper tone. also went with dual strup mufflers as well " patato shooters" i call them.

There is also a perforated X-pipe muffler by magnaflow that I am considering - you might want to look into it if you want a quieter exhaust note.

terrible advice

The APS 3" is designed like the 2.5".... likely need a new tune for bigger piping....likely still want an x...
How would you know enough about TT applications to recommend an exhaust, and say that it has better sound and gains? lol unless, of course, you are TT'd and have had both exhausts?

Here's the 2.5

To add an X pipe to either exhaust is basically the same operation. The only real difference other than width is the muffler section. As I said before, you'd still likely want an X pipe with the 3. I'm not saying I know more about exhaust than you do sir, I'm just sticking to my point.

True duals sound like crap. Doesnt matter what diameter the pipe is.

I'm running APS turbos, 2.5" aps test pipes, and a 2.5" Stillen dual exhaust which comes with an "X" pipe, & GTM external wastegate dumps. My Z is very quiet at idle (almost stock) very balanced driving around town and absolutely wicked when I floorboard it.

Hi Guys,

I had a custom x-pipe fabricated and wow.. what a difference in sound and also performance. My car spools quicker and i have absolutely no rasp. It sounds deeper and I love the sound it produces. It's not louder... it's just that the tone is much better and sounds awesome when you accelerate.. I am taking car for dyno this week and will assess the difference in power. The only crap thing is that you have to cut into your existing pipes... but I think it is well worthit.

The exhaust place that fabricated it for me have done a few x-pipes and have seen great results in the design the they did on my car. I have attached it. It is not as pretty as the magnaflow... but I am still happy with the result.

Thanks guys for your feedback

Wow, that's good news! This is an interesting alternative to selling my exhaust.

So which size would go with the EVO TT...

Stamped Y-Pipe and Tru-X Pipe transitions are great for single/dual, dual/dual and balance tube applications.

MagnaFlow's Stainless Steel Tru-X Crossover Pipe represents a significant leap forward in technology over traditional H-pipes. The more gentle radius allows for better exhaust gas scavenging, noise cancellation and better balance between cylinder banks. The result is a significant increase in power and torque but a reduction in db sound levels...the best of both worlds.

TYPE INLET/OUTLET SIZE CENTER CORE PIPE LENGTH PART#
Tru-X Crossover 2.5in Dual/2.5in. Dual 2.5in.x4in. 12in. 10791
Tru-X Crossover 2.5in Dual/2.5in. Dual 2.5in.x4in. 9.5in. 10781

noer, can you post up some sound clips? I've got Fast Intentions right now and will probably keep it.

Worst case, if for some crazy reason I didn't like the sound when I go FI, I can consider this option as well. Thanks in advance
