George,
20% water/fuel ratio is a good starting point, but I prefer to think in terms of water/air ratio, in which case 1.5-2% is what we're looking for.
And how do you plan on calculating that? Also you aren't suppose to run more than 25% w/fr with out port injection.
The rev-up lower plenum has shorter runners, making it a better candidate for top end power. I made power to 7,600 with just a revup lower and a plenum spacer - a lot better than spending $1,500 on a manifold
Note that I have deliberately left out ARP head and main studs, because I will be limiting myself to 15-16psi on account of the frailness of the open-deck block, rendering the upgraded hardware useless !
You must be new to this platform. The open deck VQ block is anything but "frail". I don't think there any motors that have cracked sleeves under 800whp. If there are, it's an isolated case.
Other than that, don't let people talk you out of the UTEC for a moderate build. I've been running the UTEC on my car since 07 and the only issue I've had was a MAP sensor that went bad. Tuning it is a piece of cake and you don't have to worry about CELs like you do with standalone EMS's. Sure the transition to boost will give a little hiccup every once in a while, but overall you can't beat it for far less than 1K (while having knock retard settings).
