The crank is done. The rod bearing from #5 fused itself to the crank.

here is my question..... Which shop is going to pay for this??? I am just waiting for you to say the customer is happy!!!!

You know where I stand in all this..... I don't care what's found.... The point is you paid for a car that runs....and from what I see ( unless I missed something) that's not what you received.

The cam covers show some wear again, but Jim said there is zero chance of any of the cosmetic peices causing an issue.

No offense Chris. But I truly believe there was zero chance that your cosmetic enhancements (powdercoating) caused the first failure either.

Regardless of which shop pays, I think it would be wise to insist that Justice builds your next motor.

The original oil analysis showed the car to be healthy with nothing out of the ordinary. Nick, if you have access to it maybe you can scan and post it. Jim and Frank agreed that sending a sample that was removed at teardown would be useless since there is so much material that has been put in the oil.

Pics of the heads - they are a loss as well. Cam journals are all messed up, so cams are done too.

So when you got the first oil sample none of that grey sludge was in it? Where did it come from?

The timing cover looked fine and the oil journals were all completely sealed.

FAWK

I was hoping you would only have to replace the shortblock.

The pistons showed a very slight amount of detonation, but not on cyliders 2 or 5 where the bearings failed. Jim said this was most likely caused by the bearing and oil starvation washing out the rings and letting some oil into the combustion chamber.

this does not look like a tuning issue

bearings, cams and end play will look like that after a contaminated oil situation, going out on a limb,i would suspect the oil pump ate your bearings.just cause it looks good means squat,it's a close tolerance pump.either pump faliure or the worst assembly ever.....that's my vote

if this was my snafu you would be running already, question is why the dragging of feet?everyone knows they're part of the build.....get it done.who pays what is for later.

that's what I have been saying..... Let's move on to the part where. Shop "A" takes care of customer. Customer gets in car and loses control of car in parking lot with a smile on his face

Both shops should have agreed to have Justice build a new motor ASAP for Chris and then settle the blame/debts later.
