Default white pipes,...

I have been running regular gas on an APS tt set up. The other day when I parked the car in the garage and went to the rear to admire the backside of the car, I found the exhaust tips were white. Can someone tell me what is going on and what i need to do to fix this. And has anyone else had this experience?

You are running lean... if you were running good to rich...it would be dark to black. What EMS are you running Can you adjust your map Its cold in Kentucky now ,so if you dont have an EMS that can adjust...you will need to get a winter tune.

The ems is the one that came with the aps kit. Yes it's cold here. And, no I don't think I have abilities to adjust my map. But my thing is, I had it tuned and put together and brought it home in an ice-storm. So it was very cold when the set up was initiated.

Post what you have done to your car...Is it a built motor? Stock motor? Can you post pic of the white exhaust? What boost are you running?

APS tt, 2.5 dual ex, clutch, flywheel, stock motor. I haven't changed anything else. I noticed it seems to burn alot of gas. I go through a tank of gas fast. I am very very green to this and wish I knew more to tell you. The install was done by Z1 and I have e-mailed them. But they are 5.5hrs away from me. This is probably something simple, but i don't have the tools to fix the electronics. I have every wrench a man could want! Not really, but I do have alot.

Yeah....do you have any gauges to read A/F or boost? White exhaust is not good...running lean will make your car fast...but will also quickly blow your motor. Get this checked before boosting it again.

wideband is the most important gauge to know your engines condition. you can get an AEM one for around 200 bucks now.

Not to jump off topic but I would say that a wide band is very helpful in regards to A/F and making sure you are not running rich / lean but I would say an EGT gauge is more important as it will also show you if you are running lean (the worst of the 2) by high EGTs

If your motor is getting extremely hot due to back to back runs your A/F will be fine but your EG temps will be skyrocketed.

OT:

I would recommend having the car looked at in regards to tune and getting either an A/F Gauge or EGT Gauge or both. Both have their benefits, but I feel an EGT gauge gives you a better understanding of how your motor is running, the A/F can be fine but your engine could still be in danger (obviously not regarding your current situation, but still something to look into with some advice)

my 2 cents

When you say you are running "regular" gas, what ocatane are you referring to?

93 octane. Hal tech is about 4hrs away in lexington. If I go that far I may as well go to georgia for the extra hour to Z1 to the original installer. How about nashville? Is there anyone in nashville with a dyno set up??

I had just driven the car down the highway pretty fast and that is what happened. So, are you saying under regular conditions, it should go back to black instead of white????

the guages are a good suggestion. I really wanted more on the install. but I didn't want them on the pillar, and they said I didn't have to have them at Z1. Which I know is true, but it does make things better. I'm sure there are alot of things that I didn't have to have that I have already.

EGT is useful data but may not accurately represent AFR. For example, retard timing and watch EGT skyrocket even though the AFR is spot on...
