haltech questions w/ FI
I just found the best deal on a haltech for under 1800 new.. not a scam either.
i did a bit of research as well... I just had a few questions that maybe i failed at searching. I understand that the stock ecu is still being used.
#1 will the immobilizer function be deleted?
#2 will cel related to engine functions no longer be shown?
#3 engine rev limiter will that be removed or would i still need to send out for reflash
#4 will the speed limiter be removed as well?
Thank you for all your replies..

1. NATS disables fuel/ignition in the oem computer. Haltech has complete fuel/ignition control, so the car will be drivable with a key mismatch. One note, you will not be able to do ignition copy-through while nats is upset.
2. If CEL exist before Haltech, it will not remove them.
3. Rev limiter depends on year. Haltech leaves throttle-body control to the factory computer. On earlier Zs, rev limiter is fuel cut. On these, Haltech will allow for increased rev limiter. On later Zs, rev limiter is fuel cut and throttle-body close. On these, Haltech can continue to fuel but this won't matter as the throttle body is closing. Those will require a reflash (which we can do, or send you the cable to do yourself).
4. Speed limiter depends if throttle is closing. If so, reflash is required. Again, we can provide that service if needed.

i have a 05 non rev-up motor.
so hal@ip what is this cable that you speak of that will allow me to flash out the rev limiter?
Also another question in regards to the copy through of the nats system.. if i have the haltech would there be any need at all to ever reset or "sync" the keys?
reason i ask about the CEL is that it is coming on intermittently or not at all
and it is a code p1065 secondary heater control for ecm. it came one twice before but hasn't returned since and its been approx 2-3 weeks. i did the majority of the troubleshooting within the fsm and it seems that they now want me to replace the ecm.
also does anyone know if the speed limiter is throttle controlled? i dont know if i can check while im driving =)
Also its not MRC that is offering this killer deal. You are just gonna have to search the forums.. but sheesh 1800 new is ridiculous awesome and he said that it was good till the end of this year.

There are some things I don't have a problem just removing the CEL, but when it comes to something like key mismatch I would prefer fixing it the proper way. It is inexpensive and quick to have a dealership reset the key codes (~$55 here). That being said, I have driven Z's with key mismatch on Haltech for weeks with no trouble.
A cipher cable loaded with a map to do any of the following you need: remove throttle-cut rev limiter, remove speed limiter, remove any troublesome CEL codes. Send me a pm or give me a call tomorrow to discuss this option if you like.

A normal ignition map does not rely on copy through. You enter desired timing values and it fires the coils appropriately. Copy through is a feature that allows the OEM ECU's timing values to pass through the Haltech and onto the coils. This is helpful in idle conditions to maintain perfect idle. With NATS enabled, the oem ecu does not output valid ignition values, so using copy through would pass that garbage through.
