Alberto, Phunk, Sharif and Jet Plane all cover the points why you should have it on your car....I use the stock one.
This is the cheap Ricer way to do it
....but some how it usually works

My ARC aluminum underpanel is for sale. I will be making a fs thread soon.
I switched back to the plastic oem one, b/c it makes oil changes a lot easier, given the flexible sections that can be pulled back.

I don't use it at all. After I replaced my front bumper with a C-West N1 it became a major pain in the a$$. I had to fabricate a piece of plastic to make it attach to the front bumper like it does to the stocker and it ripped out at the attachment points. I then figured that it was old anyway and bought a new one from OEM, failed in a week. All I can think is that the N1 scoopes in way more air than stock and ripps the plastic at the attachment points, and let me tell you when the front half pop's out and folds under you don't hear it untill you slow down and it's really ugly sounding.
I've been running without it for about a year now, never an issue. If failing was not an issue I'd keep it, I'd get an ARC if it was not so friggen expensive. A little PITA to remove for oil change but I'd keep it anyway, never took me more than 15 minutes to change the oil anyway.

I've seen a few people put quite a few holes in it with a holesaw. Heat rises so your better off taking the holesaw to the hood.
I'll be making one out of aluminum come springtime.. Arc is a little pricey for a few brakes and rivets.

I dont use one currently, after I got the KarumaZ bumper I didnt really bother to attach it, dont really notice anything personally... it probably would be better to have it on, but very minimal difference i would think.
I've had mine off since about 3 months after I turbo'd my car. I noticed absolutely no difference in intake or coolant temps with it on vs. off and the car handles the same at high speed. It's annoying to take off and put on every time you need to work on your car, and if I get a small leak of anything I have to take it off just to figure out what's going on.
Idiotic that no one designed a panel that could be removed easily for oil changes. With a fumoto valve, it's possible to just reach in and get it done, and change the oil filter from the side, but what a mess...

Heat does rise, which is exactly why I think it would help FI cars get more air in and around the hot parts. I left mine off for now, as it is a PITA to remove for oil changes and pinpointing any leaks that may occur.

all it took to convice me to buy a new one and put in on the car was pics taken at the BBORR @ 125MPH and seeing the bottom of my front bumper pushed against the intercooler from the pressure..lol With it in place it holds the bottom of the bumper out where its supposed to be. Granted its a pain to remove to do anything but I have a 90 degree electric drill I put a 10MM socket on and can drop all 15? bolts in under a minute..

I would keep it on. It will help force air through the intercooler, and it will also create somewhat of a low pressure zone under the front end of the car. Also the protection it provides is cheap insurance.
