Default Vortech with 650cc injectors

I think I am going to ditch the SS box and fmu and run a utec. Will I need a walbro 255? If so I read about mods to lower the fuel presure but can't find out with what they are.

unless ure going to hit 500whp on the vortech the 650 are overkill. I would get 550cc, a walbro and also a fuel return line to run with the utec. Utecs are known for hard starts if u go too big on the injectors.

Yes, you will need to put a Walbro 255 in the tank no need to lower pressure.
650cc injectors are pretty big. What are your power goals?

i dunno, i'm at over 90% IDC with a CJM stage 2 return, 255l, and DW 600's on a FP tune.

[RPM] [TPS] [IDC%] Wide Band
5757 23 85 11.8
5817 98 89 11.8
5837 98 87.8 11.8
5847 98 89.8 11.8
5973 98 92.7 11.8
6027 61 95.4 11.7

Although, that might be fixed by upping my base fuel pressure.

If you go with DW 800s, you'll want to get a ECU reflash along with the UTEC or dump the UTEC and go Haltech. The reflash/UTEC is probably cheaper and enough control for a SC

But if someone wants to buy my DW 600's so I can go with DW 800's, I'm all ears

I am looking for around 400 at the wheels. Reason for the 650 is a local is selling them and the utec.

If it's a good deal, I would go for them. 550's or 600's might be better for starting the car (I had hot start issues with 650's), but I'm not sure about the duty cycle on something like the 550's. I would just go with the 650's for being cheap and future-proof.

You are correct in the need to lower your the fuel pressure with the Walbro. Some drilling is required of the Walbro..Check search on Phunk. He has a nice write up on whats required...W/O the drilling expect to see around 80-90 psi.

Phunk from CJ Motorsports has great instructions on how to install the Walbro and then lower the fuel pressure.

What do you mean by starting problems. Like it turns over a few times or will not start.

I have a UTEC and DW 650cc injectors and it runs great. However, I am going for over 500whp and as far as I know that is the biggest injector that the UTEC can control.

As quirky as I've heard the Utec is . I would suggest keeping the SS box and flash the ECU for the 650's and get re-tuned .

Ditch the SS box and run Osiris for tuning.

I have no problems with my setup ... DW600's, Walbro 255, F:T Fuel Return and UTEC.

Well, no problems outside of the hot start, blip the throttle issue
