Turbo LS2??
I can't wait to see this thing complete!
I understand the benefits of a single large turbo, but if a single large turbo will not fit, how about going with two smaller turbos? Perhaps they will be easier to fit.

Im very partial to turbos and the big lag...the supercharger will have too much down low for what im looking for.
Well, its gettin close to install time. I have the LS2 drivetrain, just waiting on swap parts...once the motors in im going to see if we can reuse the stock manifolds facing forward and if we can we will be throwin in a pte78 or pte88 turbo depending again, on size...if neither can fit then ill just move this thread over to the nitrous thread.
I forsee you having a tight fit up front if you place it in front of the motor and the pte88 is likely to surge, I'd recommend the 78 for your setup, you'll make plenty of power and it will spool instantly on the LS motor.
Also, if you plan on making some good boost I suggest using L19 head studs and cometic phuzion (o-ring) head gaskets. These motors at bigger boost have a tendency to lift the heads a tick. We've started using L19's and those head gaskets and problem solved.

alright. looking at the trans am you did..thats almost exactly how I want to do my setup. I bought a pair of truck manifolds and as soon as the engine is in the car im going to see what kinda room we are working with.I was thinking about doing the turbo up front like that,if theres enough room between the engine/rad.

Custom rear turbo setup should work right? I've seen GTO's and Z's with them. Engine bay space wouldn't be an issue especially if you're saying there is more room with the ls2.
ehh, Im not a fan of the rear turbo setups...im going to do everything I can to get it to fit up front...pretty much just like the setup on the TA...or maybe opposite to where the powerlab turbo sits.
Depending on the Hinson, or whatever sub assembly you use, you may be limited to a 3 or 3.5" downpipe since it's very tight between the frame and the block, but since it's in a Z I don't know if that will be a factor, just something to watch for.
Can't wait to see you progress!

You will not have A/C using the truck manifolds unless you move it up high. We also made a custom alternator relocation kit for it since it has to be moved up as well. The problem you run into when running the truck manifolds forward.

yeah I wont be using A/C...the downpipe will be there instead. =) So the alternator down low wont go huh? hmmm I like where you put the alternator but I dont think it will fit under the tower brace..how high above the manifold does the alternator sit?
