i thought the haltech had pretty solid temp correction? i would bet it was just the accumulated stress that let the rod go. your tune woulda had to lean out a point or more for a significant change in power.
regardless, any of the shops will sell a long block. long blocks have all the timing done, cams done etc. all you need to do is bolt on the accessories, fuel, and plenum.
alright alright. Yes I installed my own bolt on turbo kit and all the supporting mods. Yes i had it tuned by a reputable tuner, and the tune was even looked over by injected and they thought it looked great.

I was running 110 octane and 12+ psi ( my choice). I live in New England in October the weather gets colder and denser. Long story short the car was making to much power, it threw a Rod through every piece of aluminum that nissan had to offer.
I am looking to get my car back on the road and am going for my first build
My OP was looking to really see if anyone had gotten a complete engine shipped from a vendor and if their were pro and cons to doing it.
I know many vendors offer long and short blocks and their prices. I was really wondering if i could get a more complete setup. By saying that i meant with cams already installed/shimmed and timing chain together and with cover already on. The reason i asked if because i know shortblocks are the most popular option. I did not know if there was reason for this. like thom said probably just weight issues
when it is time to build my second built motor
i will not be blaming or pointing. I dont know why anyone would
i love fi its the abusive gf i just cant leave.
im outta space and running out of time so i was looking for a drop in option seeing if anyone had gone that route. If a great shop was down the street it would def be a viable option i understand the pro and cons.

"free the doug" day is the 28th, right ?
I would start a thread to mark this date with celebration, however,.... I am just a noob (low post count per se), I would be instantly attacked

go over all your sensors then or something.
sounds like your tune was supposed to be safe for 93 and you were running 110. Should have been a lot safer with 110. Was it 110 leaded? maybe you ate an 02 with 110 leaded and the haltech freaked???
Mine tuned in 80 degree weather was still fine in 40 degree weather....granted the pro-efi does great adapting.....
