Default clutch and flywheel recommendations

well my car is at the local nissan dealer right now having my new longblock droped in (oil consumption test got me a new motor for free) and they noticed i need a new clutch....

well my car is going FI as soon as this motor is broken in so id like to get a clutch and flywheel that will handle the power im going to put down....(aps single turbo)

what would you guys recommend? im looking for an all around good deal...*price and performance*

thank you guys in advance

P.S. i put this in FI because it will be used in a turbo setup...mods, please move if need be

I had a Clutchmaster's FX600 (twin disk). It fried the first time I launched it hard (I launched at about 3000 - 3500 rpm). Now I have a Carbonetics tripple disk. It is much, much stronger. Each of the clutch disks are probably twice the surface area of the FX600 disks. It is much smoother too. I does cost more, but imo well worth the price.

what power are you planning to make.....if you are over planning on going over 550rwhp you should look into multi-disk clutches.

I have a dxd southbend stage 5, single disk. holds the 550rwhp great, but slipping on the high boost stuff (going to rps twin). Its pretty cheap. Break in was a nightmare (really grabby) but its great now. They have other clutches too for less power apps.

just another option.

I have that too! Great on the APS twin!

OEM Flywheel hasssss to go! So heavy, slow spool. I'm going to put in a prolite soon.

+1, its the last clutch you'll ever have. i have a clutchmasters stage 4. its holds the power but its finicky. engagement point changes depending how warm it is and it starts getting somewhat of as sticky feeling when its completely warmed up. its decent if you are looking at price point and need something that can hold the power.

I have noticed how the engagement point changes throughout a days abuse... but you couldnt beat it for the money.

I run a Competiton Clutch, Stg 4 6 puck mated to a Nismo fly. It is grabby, but you can slip it a LITTLE bit to make the engagement smooth...too much slipping apparently kills the clutch. No slippage, but my power isn't substantial yet

I'm partial to the ACT heavy duty street clutch - you can choose to do the flywheel, or reuse your existing one, either works fine. The engine will be more responsive with the lighter flywheel. The clutch has a very nice even feel to it, very easy to drive in traffic, neither too stiff, nor very grabby, and holds well in excess of the torque you'll be putting out.

I am in the same boat, looking to make about that much power and can't decide on the clutch.

If you're going to change the flywheel as well I'd say go with the RPS flywheel and the RPS Z32 Max Street clutch. That clutch has been beaten to death in 550 RWHP Z32's for years and hold up well. It's an excellent all around set up.

Our Z1 clutch and flywheel will work well too, I would recommend using a 6 puck disc with our clutch though. The solid disc may not be quite enough with forced induction.

ATS twin carbon. Holds 700+ lbs of torque and yet has a stock pedal/engagement feel when slightly warm. However, the clutch grabs like a crack ***** on a pipe when the discs are HOT.

Running JWT Clutch/Flywheel Combo and it's holding 400rwhp great! Have it on for over 10k miles and it's still holding just like day 1.

It's not bad, just be careful not to slip it too much.
