Default Cooling and thermostat issues

Has anyone tried the greddy relocation kit with any success? I still have cooling issues when I run the car hard. Builds up an air pocket behind the thermostat and then it won't open. I have seen a few pics of cars with this but didn't get the direct contact info to PM them..
Anyone?

It sounds to me like you may not have bleed all of the air out of the cooling system. It takes some time to do this. When Japtrix put new coolent in mine, Roger ran the engine for a while with a funnel filled with coolent siting on the fill hole. He also had me bring up the RPMs to 2500-3000 a few times, and hold it there for 30 seconds or so (if my memory is serving me right).

Also, you might want to go with a Nismo low temperature thermostat. That was recommended to me by a few people, including Japtrix. I don't seem to have any coolent problems, even when running the car hard.

I started with a 54mm Koyo radiator and an oil cooler, but my engine bay did get very hot. Even though I did not notice any cooling issues, since I am building for track use, I added a second oil cooler, changed the stock hood to a Seibon vented hood, heat wrapped my downpipes and W/G relocation pipes, and added turbo blankets. That helped out alot. Now, I have everything ceramic coated on the exhaust side, both inside and out, and I'm doing away with the heat wrap. That should help even more.

I'm not sure. Roger at Japtrix picked them out. They are each specified to dissipate about 12,000 BTU, but I'm not sure of the testing parameters used to generate this specification. I'm assuming there is an industry standard that is used for testing oil coolers, but I have not looked into it.

I did come accross some oil coolers that were specified to disspate 15,000 BTU, but they were much more expensive than the ones Roger provided (I think they were nearly triple the price). It was a while ago, so I don't remember the brand. It turns out that using two 12,000 BTU oil coolers (24,000 BTU total) were still cheaper than the 15,000 BTU oil coolers I found.

The engine is out and disassembled, but I have not been pushing it because I wanted to give it a couple of weeks to see if my Greddy kit and downpipes sell. If so, I'll proceed with the custom turbo system. I'll give it another week or so. If I don't get it sold or a reasonable deposit by then, I'll stick with what I have for now. It has been serving me very well!!!

Roger has expressed an interest in buying the kit and downpipes off of me a few months down the road for a Japtrix project he will be working on, so I can hold off on the custom turbo setup until then. Since I am still in HPDS, and will be for some time, I won't be pushing it as hard as JetPilot, so the turbos should be fine, especially since I am running two oil coolers. I was anxious to get the custom turbo system done now, but I don't think I'll really get any benefit out of it for some time.

Maybe by then I'll be ready to jump to a 4.0L GTM stroker motor. We'll see...

I should have been a little more clear..I have been through a nismo stat, have a 53MM koyo, have a radiator funnel and have bled the system a thousand times. I DO NOT have blown headgaskets. I was wondering if anyone specifically used the greddy relocate kit to any avail. I am going to pull the damn stat out again for the summer and run the bborr without it this year.
Like I said I have seen a few pics with this relocate kit in it and wated to know if it helped or what.
