not only the tuner kit, allso the EXTREME KIT.
btw, i see that your motor was builtzmotors. good luck with all that. mine lasted a whole 3 weeks and 500 miles at 12psi before it burnt 3.5 quarts of oil and fawked up a rod. sharif broke it down and would not rebuild it cause the tolerances were waaaay out of spec. and before you accuse him of making that crap up, he donated a block to rebuild.

I will say, if you like your torque, stay with test pipes and don't go 3" DPs... i lost quite a bit making the transition.
interesting... i love the torque but i'd rather the faster spool and less stress on the motor.

i hear ya. there is definitely a trade off. faster spool, i didn't need as i had mad traction issues, anyway. but, less exhaust stress on the motor was always a plus. i think my *biggest* gripe was with the open dumps. i didn't like the sound of them... at first they were ok...but, got annoying after a while. a recirc of them could fix that, though. i think JKenefic fabricated his this way and it turned out very nice.

It doesn't matter. The dyno graph in the original post is enough.
APS IS DOOMED.

The worst part is that APS did not make this change in the best interest of the end users. They had a good product before and decided to switch to cheaper inferior turbos for the sole purpose of improving profit margin. GREED FTMFL!!!

In the end the customer is FAWKED, not the dealer or APS.......

It's not just greed, but stupidity. It costs no more to put in a higher flowing wheel in there. If they were going to go to copycat turbos, fine, maybe that made good business sense, but for god sakes pick turbos that have the same god d@mn flow characteristics.

A few customers get screwed, but APS management just undermined the reputation they built over several years. And I have a feeling vendors are stuck in a tough spot now with merchandise that isn't up to spec.

Didn't they think anyone would notice. WTF? I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps QC is just off and some kits work fine, while others perform poorly... It would make sense that they would try to pass these off as similar turbos, but didn't anticipate the inherent variability in the quality?

To be honest, I don't think APS cares about the 350Z/G35 market any longer, hence the lack in quality - they made their money of the community and have moved on to different platforms, which is truly unfortunate for consumers like Jay, Cass, and the OP.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, have been off the last couple of days - when I get to the shop tomorrow I will see if I can fine some dynos sheets of the car we installed this kit on for reference.

By the way, we have only installed one of these kits, and we probably will never install one of these again.

I am confident that if you guys upgrade the center section to a Garrett GT2871R or GT3071R (ball bearing) you will be happy since its not really a big deal that the compressor and turbine housings weren't cast by Garrett. (unless they are severely poor quality)

Good luck guys, let me know if any of you want to upgrade to a GTM TT kit (J/K! lol )

Look at the turbos, if they don't have any Garrett markings then yes, I would recommend upgrading them before installation as I guarantee you will be disappointed.

The Blouch guys seemed to think that the castings were of fine quality and even remarked about the nice finish on the outside. I'm sure they would have suggested completely new turbos to me had the housings been crap.

Okaaay.. wtf. you guys scarin me. I've had my kit since Late november. I'm 368whp/350 tq on Dyno Dynamics. It pulls pretty hard.. Only problem I've had is that my pipe blew off.. twice. I've since gotten it adjusted and double clamped.

I had my kit installed at Function Tuned in MD. Bought it from Z1. Honestly not having any major issues. But, I'll bring this issue up with Dave at Function.
