Default My Greddy TT build is complete!!!

Posted this in the Orlando Z section, thought I should post here since this is where I gathered alot of info that helped me along the way! ")

Well after countless hours and two months of not having my Z the Greddy TT set-up is finally complete! (minus the tuning) My boyfriend and I did the install ourselves and his dad helped along the way. It was def. not easy and all the threads that say you can do the install with the engine in the car are a lie!!! lol. I have no clue how they did it b/c there are just some bolts on the exhaust manifold you cannot get to! So after 2 or 3 weeks of trying to do the install in the car the engine had to come out.

Mod List:
Greddy TT with intercooler - local forum member
UTEC w/ map sensor - forum member
DW 600cc - thanks to Forged Performance
1 step colder plugs - again Forged Performance
GreddyEvoTT exhaust - local forum member
Turbo XS testpipes - WeSellCarparts.com - best deal!
ACT 6 puck sprung clutch and streetlite flywheel - forum member
Setrab Oil Cooler - local forum member
Cusco oil catch can - not going to install is FS, I want a Greddy one
Walbro FP - injected Performance
AEM UEGO - National Speed
AEM tru-boost controller - National speed
Autometer dual gauge pod - National speed - awesome customer service!
exhaust gaskets, cat/testpipe gaskets - Celebrity Nissan (best price)
Painted the plenum blue

Fabrications/extra modifications:
Powersteering cooler relocation
Washer tank relocation
front bumper
radiator overflow tank relocation
fuel lines wrapped in heat wrap and moved from the 1/2 inch off the turbo to about 5 inches away (will be modding further down the rd to add to safety)
Starter wrapped in fiberglass
cool tape added to areas near turbos
testpipes wrapped in fiberglass wrap
wideband bung welded on
exhaust manifold cracked on one side, welded but will prob need to be fixed again at a later date

Started her up last night idles really rough and dies with a touch of the throttle but atleast it started up! Needs tuning really bad have an appt for next weekend with Japtrix

here are a few pics the good ones are on my b/fs camara

beginning

pulling the motor

Some things are hard to get at lol

Welding the bung

oil cooler

gauges and testpipes

heat wrapped

hello turbo

polishing the intake pipe before and after

mid-way test fitting

Also wanted to note that I bought a car cover to keep the paint from getting nasty from sitting for months but discovered it was really useful to keep the motor out of the rain as well and used it to cover it up while it was out of the car. Also kept all the dew off of it so it was nicer to work on in the morning. OEM car cover FTW!

That was me a few weeks ago : ]
I installed my greddy kit the first time with the engine in the car. It is possible, but a pain in the @$$. We have a lift though, which made it better.
I pulled the engine to rebuild it and it was wayyy easier. To anyone planning on installing this kit- just pull it!

to 350z rookie, the bov needs to be before the maf sensor so it doesn't read air that is not going into the engine. Its in the perfect place.

^The BOV can be placed anywhere from the output on the intercooler to the intake.

Nice job on the install. How much boost do you plan to run?

Looking good. I am sure it was very satisfying to complete this project on your own.
However, what is this "we" business...I don't see you working...just your BF...haha.

I was the picture taker! I did like 25% of the work. lol. My little hands were very good at getting at some bolts. I also did the new oil pan install all by myself and putting the UTEC in the rest of the stuff I just kinda helped out :P

8-9 however much the stock block can run safely. I'm going to build the motor down the rd. I have like half the parts ready for the build so far. Just need to save up some more, tuning is going to be a big expense. My end goal is 550-600 rwhp

Sooo I've been thinking about updating this for awhile so I guess I might as well do it. lol.

Tore the motor down finally to just the block and had it sent up to Forged for the machining and balancing. The motor is on its way back home right now

New goodies in addition to the ones in the 1st post:

Spec Twin Disc clutch and flywheel
JWT oil pan spacer
BC STG II Cams
Arias ED pistons .20 overbore
Eagle Rods
L19 headstuds
ARP main studs, rod bearings etc.
HKS headgasket
Nismo low temp therm
Rev-up Oil Pump
Complete engine gasket kit

Soon to buy:
Fuel return system, not sure what set-up I'm going to be doing Sharif is looking into this at the moment for me as I already have fuel rails I just need the rest of the set-up.
Misc. gaskets for exhaust
Better filters to replace the Greddy mushrooms
Built axles
lightweight pulleys (if anyone has some for sale let me know!!!)

I've spent the past few days trying to pick the stupid RTV out of the timing covers with hurting the mating surface, what a PITA I have like no skin on my knuckes from my hand slipping. lol. Going to finish that up tomorrow as well as strip my plenum to get ready for powdercoating. I am also going to powdercoat my greddy strut bar and greddy cooling plate to match. Doing the mag blue Will be doing up my wheels to match once I burn up the tires I have on there now.

Hopefully I'll get the motor back this week and finish everything up in the next couple of weeks. The plan is to break in the new motor by driving up to Forged for the tuning.

Pictures!!!!

which Spec did you get, the SS? Thats what I had originally. really nice on the street cuz it slipped some. GOtta make sure that your slave cylinder is 100% though, otherwise it will be notchy

I upgraded to the ST model and fully expect that to be pretty bad on the street. AS long as it holds 750 ft-lb of rwtrq I'll be happy though

Forged is keeping their machine shop busy for sure! Have fun!

Yea I got the Spec SS for the street driveability, the ACT 6 puck was great but kinda annoying to have to drive in traffic

That was along time ago, I took it to Japtrix but actually it was HP logic or whatever the tuner's name was that was in that shop and they told me my brand new UTEC was broken and that it couldn't be used so since I had already towed the car there I went along with it and got the Osiris but they bricked my ECU 3 times and after having my car sit there for weeks I finally had Forged send a transport to pick up my car and bring it up to GA. There was nothing wrong with the UTEC and Sharif was able to tune with it just fine. I would never ever have anything to do with that tuner ever again (pretty sure it s called HP Logic). It ended up costing well over $1k in transport fees from having to tow it down there then have it shipped up to GA and back to Orlando. That POS tuner left Japtrix like a week after all this crap happened to my car.
