Which code reader?
I use a actron scanner. It works well and cheap. Here's a ebay link 45 shipped. I think you can even get them at about any auto part store.

i got an actron, does what its says, cipher if u got the cash and time to hookup to laptop and check all the jazz. actron is quick, simple and 1/4 the price. i only use it to check/clear codes and it does that so im happy. cipher will give u more data but dont know if its worth it if u just want to clear the check engine light
i got the larger actron unit which gives u the code # and a short descripion of the issue

I have the actron pocket scan, too. great little unit. it is small with a short cord....perfect for keeping in the car and quickly erasing codes. easy enough to do (even while driving!!)
