Recharging the Vortech Filter
I hated that little filter. I trimmed out the plastic in front of it and used the K&N rx4140. Its more than twice the size. I used to clean my Vortech filters every 3 weeks. Gotta let that blower breathe. It was definately a difference I could feel. I still have one in the box if someone wants it. The one on the right was a used one to show what it looked like.
Do you guys have any pics of these CAI alterations?
Are you using a catch can or what are you doing with your crankcase ventilation? Vortech suggests routing it back to their filter for ingestion (which is what I'm doing).

Yeah I like the work they put in but mine was simple. Trimmed a little bit of that duct plastic and the filter goes right in off the blower. No extention tubes. Best thing about it is I kept it clean. Like every 3 weeks. That first day after every clean it rips.
Thanks for the pics to show your filter setups. It appears as if you're at least taking off your front bumper to recharge the filter, except for maybe 350Z400whp who might get access thru the fender well.
Those filters should allow for ingestion of larger air volume but how does the larger surface area of your filters impact the engine performance compared to the smaller area of the Vortech filter?

- Any danger of overloading the MAF?
- How about any extra rwhp gained over the Vortech filter (e.g. larger air volume allows for more fuel to maintain A/F)?
- Don't suppose you have any Vortech filter vs. modified filter dynos?

Top View. Oh and by the way that's a Cusco catch can so yes even Vortech guys can mount a can there. I think the Greddy would fit too. I know that many have complained at how hard it is to mount a catch cat once you install a Vortech. I never thought I had the room there but to my surprise the hood shut and doesn't touch.
