Recharging the Vortech Filter
Does anyone have a filter recharging secret they're willing to share?
I searched a couple different ways but could'nt find exactly what I'm looking for. It is time for me to do the first recharge of my filter but the thing is really wedged in there!!!! Managed to get it unclamped from the charger but can't even reach behind it to disconnect the tube (crankcase ventilation?).
From looking at the setup, I figure a couple different ways to recharge it but all involve varying levels of disassembly
Any constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Also found some oil residue on the filter side of the impeller. Contacted Vortech but have not yet heard back from them....any ideas / solutions?

After jacking the Z up to investigate the fender method, I decided to go with the squish method.
Now my filter looks like ***
There were a few serious obstructions to the fender method..... a fender / headlight support on the side of the filter that bolts to the radiator as well as a frame rail and two metal lines (AC?) below the filter. Couldn't see a way to get the filter out without tearing it all apart.
Thanks for the tips though; I managed to refresh the oil/filter and air cleaner which makes for a happy Z.

I guess im the only one who does it the HARD way. Id rather not squish it. Pulling it through the fender never looked like a good option.
My method is a PITA so i decided to relocate my filter to near the hood release latch.
I normally take off the main drive belt, remove all the bolts from the bracket, lift up bracket and blower and then remove the filter. This can take a bit of time since the bolts on the bracket near the blower are a bit of a pita to undo. Once youre done cleaning it put it all back together...its a bit time consuming.

I hated that little filter. I trimmed out the plastic in front of it and used the K&N rx4140. Its more than twice the size. I used to clean my Vortech filters every 3 weeks. Gotta let that blower breathe. It was definately a difference I could feel. I still have one in the box if someone wants it. The one on the right was a used one to show what it looked like.

There was a writeupon here a while back about it. Thats where I got the idea. Vortech kits should come with this filter. Either was guys with blowers should clean them once a month and you will fee lthe difference of free fowing air
