Default Has the recession affected FI Builds and part prices?

Fellas,

I've been looking at parts and thinking about going FI. My Z is paid off, I get married in a couple of weeks, moving into a new place and I haven't bought anything for my Z in months. I was seriously considering of selling and saving up this year for a GT-R or just FI my Z and enjoy it. (My Z is my weekend toy). So in leiu or things I've noticed that prices for rods have dropped by at least 20%. Is there alot of builds going on? I think going with a small build like rods and pistons and a powerlab kit would put me at or around 450-500whp safely and make the car completely different.

Anyone noticing a significant price drop in FI parts and builds?

Yes we are Doug...unfortunately but if we keep our fingers crossed, maybe we can start finding some FI kits at 40% off . Do they ever go on clearance?

the only trend is increasing prices in FI kits. Labor costs wont go down as its costing shop owners more money to stay in business.

but, used kits are going for pennies as their original owners at taking huge losses.

They should have dropped there prices a long time ago.....cause they produce very little power gains above stock with the exception of low end touque.

Since when are 350z turbo kits overpriced? Im being serious - the power output/reliability/cost is such a better value compared to any BMW model sans N54. 15+ years of owning 20+ BMWs - first fun Nissan Ive had besides my pathfinder.

Even in this "recession" most suppliers, such as HKS, and Greddy have raised their prices...some more than once. I don't see FI getting much cheaper.

^^ I agree. Many think that due to the recession part prices will drop; a friend of mine who is in the parts business told me that part prices will go up not down. This is in part due to the reduction in inventory, as suppliers can't afford to keep stock on their shelves. Also comapnies will look to increase their profit margin as sales continue to fall off.
