Default Bad Turbo????

Well, I got my oil changed a week and a half ago. My car has run great up til this past weekend for 5k+ with turbo. I got Eneos 0w-20 put in. I had Eneos in there before this last oil change but not sure if it was the same thickness. I leave all that up to my mechanic.

Anyways, this past weekend, I smell burning and notice my Temp gauge on my pillar is reading higher than normal on the freeway. When I got home there was white smoke under the car and also when I popped the hood.

The first thing I thought was the coolant was leaking again and getting burnt. This happened a few months back because a coolant line busted from being worn out and my engine was overheating. That was fixed. My cars factory temp gauge in the dash isnt raising this time either. I've been thinking maybe it's the turbo??

Just the 1-2 psi it takes to accelerate on to the freeway seems to make it get hotter than usual. I've also boosted it to see when it does it, and it definately gets way too hot only when in boost. Like maybe normal temp being 600 degrees maybe 650-700 when I'm boosting. And now it's like 800+ on the freeway without boosting yet.

I spoke with an Eneos dealer and was told that 5w 40 is good enough for living in fort worth and that the 0w might be too thin and would need a thicker film at the bearings. I didnt ask him about the turbo smoking though. Just not sure if they are related.

Any help would be appreciated.

0w-20 is too thin for turbo cars

I wouldn't go lower than 10W-40

Do you think that could cause heating and smoking issues?

Mobile 1 0W-40 is what I run. Next change going Eneos 0W-50. No problems with the Mobile 1 and Turbonetics.

Factory calls for 5W-30 so 5W-20 is going to be too thin even without FI.
