Question Boost in higher gears

I tried to search but maybe i'm using different terminology. This is going to be my first FI car. A buddy mentioned that its best not to floor the car in 5th or 6th if at regular highway speeds. Meaning he downshifts to 3rd or 4th to pick up speed quickly. Lets say you are at ~2100 rpm going 60 mph. Flooring it would hurt the motor. Is this boost creep related?
Anyone point me in the right direction or at least give me some better search parameters.
The car is an 07 if that makes any difference.

While your in the higher gears like 5th and 6th, there is much more load on the engine. Our boosted stock vqs tend to blow in the higher gear pulls

its all in the tune and setup and weather or not stock block...id say with supercharger and good tune no worries, turbo and good tune no worries as long as the boost is not over 8-10 psi and tuned properly.. stock block can only take so much load on the rods, that will be the weak spot if ever a problem most likely..

like mentioned, its the tq load that you are putting on that does things in (especially stock block).

For SC apps you are at a fixed max rpm at each rpm (gear driven)
for turbos you will build boost faster in higher gears, and depending on your metiod of boost control may make more boost in higher gears thus higher tq as well.

I would hope so. I like how at least NA, cruising in 6th on the freeway and mashing it, the car pulls. I would rather not lose that when going FI.

so basically are you guys saying in cruising in 5th or 6th and your at a lower rpm and you floor it, thats bad for the engine and could possibly blow the engine? so what do you have to do downshift to 4th or 3rd to pick up speed ? is that supposed to protect that from putting stress on the rods? fill me in plz...thanks
