Default Bad map sensor

How ofter do you guys have the Denso 3bar map sensor from HKS go out? Mine just went bad after 4000miles on it at 12psi. Can something like the GM 3bar sensor be used instead as they are cheaper and more readily available? I have another denso sensor on order but other options would be nice.

I have the HKS sensor, not sure what yours is doing but mine didn't go bad but started to read 1.5 psi lower so it was in all of the wrong cells and running rich as hell.

I took it out and carefully ran the end of a paperclip inside of it and got some crap out, then I used some carb cleaner and sprayed the inside, let it sit and do it a couple of times, and now it is fine again.

I shopped for the GM one and you also have to get the connector and then figure out the wiring to splice it in.

Hey gus, good thing when it went bad it was on the safe side.

To the OP,

All map sensors have exact calibrations and you wont be able to just plug in a different one without correctly calculating it.

yeah mine was stuck at 4inches of vac all the time. I new you had to calibrate but didnt know if that was for every sensor or if calibration was only different say between a 3 bar and a 4bar sensor since i assume they are all 0-5v. Could you run an inline filter on the line to the map sensor or would this degrade the sensitivity too much?

yeah it was running so rich it was terrible, and I spoke too soon, this morning it decided to do it again

I am thinking that rather than spending money on a new MAP sensor I will buy a MAF from Uprev and tune the car with Osiris, and get rid of extra sensor

Well i cleaned out my plenum, blew out all the lines, even swapped lines, swapped map sensors and the fcon is still not seeing the right manifold pressure. Any ideas guys?
