Default On my way down the FI road... SC learning phase in progress

ok i have been doing enough reading and trying to catch up on everything and i think i have made a decision... this is NOT my first FI car but this will be my first SC 350z...

This is where im at now:
i picked up a TN single turbo kit... SELLING THAT TONIGHT... i really dont want to deal with any heat soak issues. I decided to go with the Vortech SC kit and see what i can do with it. Seems to be a little "safer" on stock blocks (assuming only)

My worries:
05 VQ non RevUp FI with a SC

My questions:
-what should i be concerned about running the SC on a stock block?
-should i tune with Osiris, SS, Utec?
-should i bump to 440c injectors on the stock block with a larger fuel pump or is stock stuff ok for the load?
-how much HP is considered "safe" on stock blocks with vortechs?
-WHAT AM I MISSING OUT ON THAT I AM JUST NOT SEEING!??!?

thanks for any advice you can lend.

do more reading..i am tuned with ss box, but still on stock injectors running the 3.12 pulley, i am switching in a month or so though to a different ems with DW 600cc injectors, and walbro 255 in tank, i dont beleive osiris tunes for F.I. but i really dont know ive been trying to find out about it, i plan to go with a utec or emanage ultimate for tuning..so far though no complaints from the ss box, whatever u do even if u go with a complete vortech kit and keep stock pulley get it retuned..and like i did might as well throw the 3.12 pulley on, theres enough fuel for it

i also sold a t-netics kit to go with my vortech kit for drivability and reliability and safer on stock block imo..

seems like osiris is a great choice for n/a but not proven to be great yet with F.I.

im pretty much planning on just getting a whole complete vortech kit so i have everything... so you are already making 400whp on the stock injectors just with the 3.12?

i currently have a utec but im selling it with the kit most likely so i will prolly be buying another one new out the box since the other one is used i think havig a receipt on it would be awesome.

i plan on getting the injectors and the fuel pump off the bat tho.

GTM has recommended Osiris on Vortech setups. They know their stuff. The Osiris has shown great results on many F.I setups. It's really up to the shop whether they feel comfortable using the Osiris or not.

An experienced tuner is key to a great Osiris tune for F.I.

i understand gtm knows there stuff but i dont understand how u can compare a reflash that works with the stock ecu and that cant read knock above 5k rpms where alot of my driving takes place unlike a piggy back where it will read knock all the way..there are pros and cons thats for sure and like i said it has not been really tested long enough to post up that its great for F.I. applications...maybe a small stock pulley vortech or other supercharger build, but any high horsepower builds i dont think its the way to go..

2.87 pulley, 650cc injectors with osiris 435 whp running great...

I agree it would be nice to have a knock sensor, but if you tune conservatively so you avoid knock as much as possible, it should be fine...if you tune aggresively however, that's another story...

Why not?

Sounds like you want to go with piggy back, no need to search. Go with haltech.

I know u hate to get a cel, but you have to deal with it if u want more power. That's my opinion, I'm sure some fi members haven't get a cel but I will say there will more chance to get a cel once u move up to 400whp on dynojet.

this is why i have been waiting and doing more research on how to avoid it and the reason i have the setup i do now until i can make 100% certain i have done my homework and can avoid it..so far i have a handful of emanage ultimate tuned vortech setups with larger injectors that have never thrown a code..i have a local with 435rwhp tuned giles at holyroller in NH and has never thrown a code with 550 cc injectors in..i have been talking to them about it and they guarantee no codes and say they have done hundreds of them..also have talked to many with the utec who havent but also many who have, i have talked with atx motorsports where julian tunes the utecs and they say that i wouldnt have a problem with codes as well as, and as much as julian isnt liked on this site he knows a utec , and then theres osiris which also isnt throwing any but i am skeptical of not having any knock detection with osiris over 5k rpm..i am talking with function tuned about that as well as forged to get more info on it..It will happen and i will be well over 400whp..

Good luck tyler...too bad mine popped up CEL(misfire) after 2k milies with SC. But there is so many reasons it cause a CEL tho. I haven't figure out why mine throw a CEL, but i do have stronger feels that cause of fuel...I will see next week...
It is surprised me that most of shops says that worry free CEL ha (gauranteed? on " FI world ?") Atleast hal did honest with me But now you know, just a reflash ECU not helping either.

Yes...Walbro 255 in there...I had Shawn Church church from Church Automotive here in Socal do my tune...he intentionally tuned it conservatively to minimize knock...he said he could have gotten more hp with a more aggressive tune w/ racing gas, but since this car is my daily driver, best be safe...not to mention at about 12~13 psi with the 2.87, that's pushing the limits of the stock block...

I think I was one of the first guys Shawn tuned with the aftermarket MAF and Osiris in my car...
