Default Vortech experts out there familiar with blower models...

I'm trying to get a spare blower to run in my car while I get my current blower upgraded and seals repaired...there are a lot of other blowers for sale out there (v-2, s-trim, etc) but I can't tell whether they would be compatible with the 350z setup...

Most of these blowers seem to be for mustangs...I've heard that older mustang blowers won't be compatible but the newer ones are...

Any information out there?

the only ones compatible using the stock blower plate are the V-1, V-2, V-3

but, if you wanna machine out your own custom plate and custom make your charge pipes , you could use any of them

you need a CCW vortech v1, v2, or v3 blower. CCW stands for "counter clockwise" rotation. all the vortech kits for mustangs from 96 -2004 (the 4.6L SOHC and DOHC V8 motors)onward should work for you. I never looked at the newer kits for the 2005-mustangs; they may be CCW kits too.

Thanks for the info guys...I've talked to Vortech and they said that the older mustang blowers won't fit because of some part of it sticking out and not fitting with the 350z bracket...however, the newer mustang blowers will fit...

BTW...if anyone out there has a spare Vortech blower for the 350z they want to sell, PM me...

mounting points fit. In my fx35 the engine sits 4 inches back. Take the measurements for yourself. I'm sure with your skills and your techs' yall can make anything happen. Here are the mounting points from vortech themselves v2 vs v7 :

i didt think that blower would physically fit in a G/Z, but looking at your diagrams, looks like it will bolt right up. the distance from the blower mounts to the plate are both 1.809 so it doesnt look like you would need to shim anything either. the added dimensions are under 1" in any direction so it would prolly physically fit as well.

but hey if it does, thats a hell of an open door for people that like superchargers. you could hit 600+ with something like that I'm sure.

imagine tryin to keep a 6 rib belt from not slipping on that. mustang guys use 10 rib or cogged setups.

Cog setup underway thanx to Jtran/Studios . I will post once done. Shouldn't take long now that fx is out of SGP's hands.

Huh????? it is gear driven.......the size of the blower doesn't determine the spool up.

granted, the V7 Ysi is enought blower for 1000 hp on a V8. the vortechs really larger displacement engines mainly due to the pressure ratios. in general, these centrifugal blowers are larger than their turbo counterparts. In turn, they work much more effectively at creating horsepower where a lower pressure is part of the design setup of the engine combo. Turbos tend to work better at higher higher pressure ratios.

of course the size of the blower relates to spool up. ever try riding a bicycle starting in the 53/12. pretty hard. the parasitic drag to get that thing rolling.... we dont have torquey V8 motors

the cog setup should be interesting. i assume custom crank pulley with a cog and a serp system?

some interesting info from a built cobra
Here are some tips for anyone thinking about a YSI...
1. Make sure you get a big BOV or Bypass... we ended up with 2 50mm Tial Race BOV
2. Make sure you get an 8rib conversion
3. Make sure you get an OD Dampener if you're running high boost it will allow you to run a larger pulley

they are using 8x800cc injectors, so you'd need 6x1000 at least or prolly 6x1200 cc injectors along with dual pumps as well.

thats a ton of air it must have to release. piping size would be no different than a powerlab kit (ie really big)

maxflow bondo bypass on the way. 850cc dw injectors already in unless SGP gave mine away lol (if they did i guess i will listen to your advice). Not wanting too big hp just something different (this is my wifes car by the way lol )

well if you dont want big hp, i'l trade ya my v-3 making close to 500 on a dynojet.

you'd only need those 1000+cc injectors if you were looking for over 600 hp.
