Getting that CEL code is important. Were you able to read OBD II codes before using those scanners?

Check the crank position sensor. Make sure it's plugged in or you may have to replace it due to accidently hitting it or dropping it. This thing has created tons of problems that don't even throw a code or the right code. Yet replacing it fixes the problem 90% of the time it may be worth the $60 dollars for the part. Did you do anything else to the car? You can also reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery.

Same problem happened to me . . . . and it was the crank position sensor. It got mis-aligned.
