Turbonetics ST
+2, gents.
OP, if you can't afford to buy a $2500 daily beater in addition to a turbo/supercharged, it should be very revealing that FI isn't economically responsible for you right now.
Jeffie, Lemans, and Jorge all make very valid points. Much to think about as it's not a black and white issue. I don't think there's much else to discuss.

ok cool guys thanks for the help deffinitly not going to turbo it now...i thought the motor would be able to handle a little bit more power then that before letting go.
and i thought all the problems with the TN kit was only because people pushed it to hard even though apperently it still has its flaws.
which sucks i was really looking forward to it.

i run the tn kit but its not daily driven. maybe 3 or 2 days out of the week. as far as reliability i guess im one of the many lucky members who doesnt have a problem as of yet after 2 years f.i. 390/tqwhp @7.3psi spring wastegate(tial wastegate open dumps). i also have meth injection but is only used on my 9.5psi map wich i can count in 1 hand how many times i used it. powerlab indeed is a superior product but for a mere 350-400whp is a great kit. take what intense mentioned they made a very good point.

Well i guess i should give my 2 cents.I started off with the stillen stage1 back in mid 2003 and quickily went to stage2.It still didnt give me any decent power gains so in 2005 i quickly went stage3 then to stage 4 and it still wasnt worth the price i paid.
After all the harrasment from Doug(i still love you) and the defending that Bert did i went with the Greddy twins and this is all on a stock block.I now have over 57000 miles boosted with both kits and luckily have never had a check engine light or a failure of any kind related to boost.
The only time i had a problem was with a failed ss box from stillen for the stage4 and they next dayed a new one for me.....as for the Greddy twins i have had 3 screwups.I blew the cats out and i have had 2 power steering lines get melted which were very easy to fix.
I did have a couple check engine lights come on but they were for failed throttle bodys.

i was talking about before/after he boosted it because if his car had 10,000 on it when he boosted it it (should) last longer then a car that was boosted at 80,000 miles so if he was talking about how long his car had been boosted but yet it still only has 20,000 miles on it (should) still be a very reliable car.
i would drive over 80% of the time in vaccume due to how hard the police ride around so most people would probably drive there cars harder then me.

I see I'm late getting into this post but I've just started doing my homework on the TN kit.
A guy in my area is selling a TN kit that he says was on one week before going built TT. He was asking $3500, I lowball offered $1500, and he said for $2K it's mine.
I haven't read much about the TN kit since it was introduced and back then (and on this forum) people said it was superior to the Greddy TT and anything else on the market at the time (people disputed that with the APS though.)
Now I'm thinking that even at $1500, it might not be worth the headache. I plan to keep my car forever and go through periods when I need it for a daily driver so why not go for the safest kit? I want to boost, but a wise Z mechanic once told me not to do it as the VQ wasn't originally made for boost and safely shouldn't be done without a complete build and then some.
But for $1500, would you do it?

I have about 10-13kmiles, driven normal 2 years boosted. I think the reason for me not having any issues is the tial 40mm wastegate along with open dumps. Like I said before. Powerlab is a superior kit but unfortunatly it wasn't avaliable when I was on the market for a single turbo kit.
in all fairness, my car is a weekend warrior and stored winters (end of Nov through March). Last year I drove my car every chance I had and put just under 6000 miles on it. So 10-13K miles over a 2 year period is what I could consider normal for a non daily driver in my area.
In comparsion, my DD was driven just under 6500 miles last year.

i had no problem beating mustangs with my N/A g35.
spend more time learning to drive.
and just fyi, there is no such thing as a forced induction car with no tinkering. No matter what type or brand of kit you have, there is ALWAYS something going wrong or something to maintain.
