Default Is my turbo dieing?

Lately I have noticed a serious lack of power in my car and a funny noise coming from the turbo side of the engine bay. I am able to boost to 9psi which where my MBC is set at but it is not reaching full boost until later in the power band. When I let off of the gas I hear a distinct "whooooo" noise almost like what an owl would sound like.

The noise does not sound like the tial bov and only is audible after boosting any psi. The more I boost the louder and longer the noise is. Any ideas? I am thinking the turbo might be going so my next questions is how long does Garret warranty their turbos for?

+1 on checking the coupler, had one slide off about two months ago, made a similar sound and noticed the coupler had slid off a bit. Slid back into place and retightened the clamp and voulah, back in business. Check all possible air leaks first before rebuilding or buying a new turbo.

Check over the car, as others have mentioned. Couple be something very simple like a small leak, or a tear in a coupler.

If it really is a bad turbo, it will eventually fail all together, so just hang tight for now.

As far as the warranty is concerned, I know from experience, that Garrett warranties their turbo, up until the moment you start the engine.
