Default AEM Oil temp gauge question, need help please :)

OK my situation is im looking to install my oil temp probe into the oil pan, now its saying to use one of the adapters and screw it in place, if anyone has this installed which adapter did you use? and did you have to tap into the oil pan again? (im running a vortech kit and really would like to avoid tapping into the actual pan again). I heard you can use the oil plug spot to screw it in, if anyone has done this please let me know... did you have any leak issues? do you have to use plumbers tape to get it to screw in? i really like to avoid this because the thought of something breaking off is something im not even going to entertain in my low brain cell count

please let me know .. any help would be greatly thanked .

I used a oil filter sandwich plate, at least that's what I call it. It has a extra hole drilled in it for probes.

I just drilled and tapped my oil pan directly below my vortech return. Straight down all the way until the bottom. I put it there so it's in the oil. Works great.

Spend the money on a spacer if you don't want to drill another tap. I personally didn't care since there is already a hole drilled in. Saved me $100+ on a spacer and i didn't have to wait for it to arrive. I just drilled and used all the same tools for the vortech install.

I used a greddy oil sandwich...the thread for the greddy were metric while the threads for my oil temp sensor (Stri) were SAE, so I had to re-thread the greddy...no big deal...no oil leaks...
