Default Torque Plate. How thick does it need to be?

Any ideas what would be the recomended thickness of a torque plate to use for the VQ35. Is 1.5" thick enough?

I would have thought that the plate needs to be thick enough so that only the thread part of the head bolt sticks out past the plate.

Looking at the picuture below would mean the plate needs to be about 60mm thick so that the nuts can torque it down. Or can you use a shorter bolt and hence a thinner torque plate or a spacer between the plate and nut.

Doesn't need to be that thick. About 1 inch or so is fine. Use spacers to bridge the gap.
